Tips from Your Local PGA Pro at Ledene Golf Centre Christmas Gift Ideas For Golfers: Our thoughts are turning to the Christmas shopping. “What Do You Buy For The Golfer In Your Life” Here are a few ideas that may help and would be welcome on any Golfers List. • GOLF LESSONS – whether a total beginner or an established golfer, a golf lesson can prove to be invaluable. Learning the basic fundamentals of a correct golf swing setting you on the right path to learning to play, or tweaking your golf swing or other areas of your game needing improvement. See our Christmas offers at Ledene. • GOLF RANGE FINDER-for the more serious golfer these always prove very popular as they give you the exact distance from where your ball is lying to your intended target, this assisting the golfer to choose the correct club for the yardage given. I use the Bushnell range finder but the Garmin GPS wristwatch is also a suitable alternative • GOLF ACCESSORIES – The list can be endless here but good quality balls eg Srixon or Titleist are both popular brands. Golf gloves for general use on the course and winter gloves are also available in pairs, these are essential for golfers who still play in cold weather making both choices a popular present and also relatively inexpensive. • GOLF CLUBS-When buying a golf club nowadays a lot of clubs are tailor made to suit the individual golfer (custom fitted), Whether its a driver or a putter make sure relevant information about the individual you are buying for is given eg height, handicap and age of the golfer. • GOLFING ATTIRE- every golfer likes to look smart so a jumper or a collared tee shirt would be appreciated. If they are just starting out a pair of golf shoes will always be a handy present as would a waterproof suit be especially as our weather is so unpredictable!! • GOLF GIFT CARD –After reading the above and you are still unsure what to buy, gift cards are available, choose any amount to suit your budget and the golfer gets to choose exactly what he/she wants. I would finally like to wish “All Codsall Pages readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year” from everyone at Ledene Golf Centre and I look forward to seeing many of you practicing and playing golf at Ledene over the Christmas holidays.

A Word From Your MP I love Christmas. It is, without doubt, by far and away my favourite holiday. I love the Christmas carols, I love the sense of excitement in the air and the joy of families re-united for the festive season. I love attending church on Christmas Day and I love being able to give presents to my family and friends. I love it all and it is a good thing too because, while Christmas is one my favourite times of the year, it is also one of my busiest. From Christmas light ceremonies and Christmas tree judging competitions to Christmas carol services, Christmas carol singing, Christmas dinners, Christmas drinks and the signing of 750 Christmas cards, the life of an MP is never still at this time of year. Indeed, it is often far too easy to get lost amid the business and bustle of the holiday. However, there always comes a point – usually on Christmas Day itself – when I manage to pause and contemplate what Christmas truly means. For each person, the spirit of Christmas has a slightly different face. For example, for some people Christmas is purely about the birth of Jesus Christ, while for others it is about spending time with family or merely bringing to a close yet another year. For me, Christmas signifies all these things and yet also much more. As an MP, I see many cases on a daily basis where people encounter major difficulties and big life blows. I often speak with local residents who need help with their problems and am all too aware that many people may feel that they have little to celebrate. Christmas, however, is an opportunity for us all to come together and help each other to share the weight of these heavy burdens. We are lucky, this year, to have a wide range of Christmas activities in the area for everyone to enjoy. Last month, there was an Xmas Craft Fair at Codsall Village Hall and Perton also hosted its first ever Christmas Fair, thanks to the hard work of 12 dedicated volunteers. For the musically minded, there will also be Carols Around the Tree, on December 6th, at the Codsall Village Centre, and Carols Around the Crib at St. Peter’s Church on the 22 nd. I hope to meet many of you on my festive rounds but, for those I don’t see, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
