PGA Golf Tips from Jeremy Nicholls at Ledene Golf Centre..... Creating Width with your Driver A common fault you hear on the driving range is that my irons are going well but I’m struggling with my driver. A key component to driving is to create width in the swing, Try and picture in your mind the shape of an “O” compared to the shape of a V. The “V” shape being created by too much wrist hinge and not enough body rotation which will create too steep an angle of attack into the ball. With the “O” shape feel as the body rotates the arms and club extends away from you and the shaft of the club is at least parallel to the ground before you hinge your wrist, this will create the necessary width and will flatten the swing plane which will help you to get a shallower angle of attack into the ball and increase your club head speed.
