Permian Basin Data Center Growth
Research suggests Texas could soon lead the world in data center capacity. 29 A recent project is underway in Pecos County, the largest fully permitted power-for-AI data center campus in the U.S., with 7.65 gigawatt gas power generation capacity. An analyst estimated it to consume ~1–2 BCF/d of natural gas; that’s equal to ~4–7% of 2025 gas produced in the Permian Basin. 30
