PRESIDENT ’ S WELCOME

Dearall,
Thewarmestofwelcomestoallreturners, freshersand our new members! I hope you had a restful summer vacation. I’m delighted to present you with CULS’ MichaelmasTermcard2025!

As we head into the 124th year of CULS, we continue to have exciting plans in store. This year, we are staying true to our values of improving accessibility andwideningthesocialimpactofourinitiatives.
OurMichaelmascalendarispackedwithskills-focused careers workshops for aspiring solicitors and barristers, social events where you can get to know different firms, and speakers events where you can interact with experts in the legal space. With a fresh focus on legal technology, we are also providing ways forstudentstogaininsightintothefutureofthelegal profession. We have various opportunities for you to get involved – from Per Incuriam submissions and a newly introduced essay competition, to pro bono subcommittee applications! We will have more handson pro bono opportunities such as a multi-university LegalClinicinitiativeandnewIPSEApartnership.
Our revised mentorship scheme will enable you to strengthen your network within the Cambridge legal community as well, providing a holistic supporting environment. By continuing our partnerships with iconic local brands in Cambridge we will also provide the best discounts to CULS members. Moreover, we are excited to be building on our Podcast, CULSCAST, now led by a dedicated Podcast Secretary.
It is important to us that CULS remains an accessible and inclusive space for all, where people come together and forge lifelong friendships. Therefore, for our non-law members, our Non-Law Department will be organising various socials and panels where you can meet other CULS members and legal professionals with a non-law background. Furthermore, our new Non-Law Newsletter will provide a starting point for students unfamiliar with the legal world to explore. We will also be continuing access prices for our annual law ball, such that everyone gets an equal opportunity to attend. We will continue to post updates on our Facebook, Instagram and Mailing List for all our events, so please watchoutforthemforfurtherdetails!
Finally,Iwanttoexpressmysincerestgratitude and admiration to the CULS Main Committee, who have worked incredibly hard to make this term card possible, by coming up with new ideas and bringing them to fruition. I would also like to thank our sponsors for their generous support of our society, and their enthusiasm in supporting CULS members in theircareeraspirations.
We look forward to meeting you at our events thisMichaelmas!
Kindregards,
JiwonHeo CULSPresident 2025-2026
