OPUS 22: I have found a piece of time; how to put the sea inside a bucket.

On the support, converted into the world to be recreated and used as a space for meditation and analysis, with a space-time perspective, as a visual artist, I propose to plastically define the anomalies, the distortions of a parallel expressive and experiential space ( or not), of the external environment perceived with a glasses of looking inwards. However, as a plastic artist I try to become aware of the contradictions of the different spaces where discourses of human behavior are manifested and I do so by collecting significant and archetypal particles of feelings of our human condition. Unfortunately neither the world is linear nor simple, from its appearances I intend to extract and give light plastically to the complexities and chaos that act both on the reality of the world and that of the spirit. Through the image and its plastic elements, I intend to define those small subtleties and interferences that undergo the purest forms that one recognizes as essential for our life.On the other hand, the images of those first horizons that we live visit us with certain assiduity, concluding their osmosis with those visual forms, essential visual concepts, that we have managed to isolate over the years, not without effort, to become typical of the experience. It is the coupling of these two existential states of the plastic work, the engine of development of visual poetics and the positive re-conversion of the solitudes that dress the consciousness of our destiny. http://www.pereplanells.com http://www.lofato.cat

Pere Planells i Bonet, he was born in the city of Ibiza, on February 2, 1950, he graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona. He was assistant to American artist Conrad Marca-Relli. He also studied Cinema at the Independent Film School of Barcelona (Eixalà). As a result of these studies he co-directed the documentary Amen Romaní 1/1970 / Amen Romaní 2/1970, with Francesc Juan in full swing of the Catalan underground cinema, and subsequently applied these knowledge to the pedagogical field in a cinema project in classrooms, in fact, his first work was as a cinema professor at the Pau Vila Institute in Sabadell. In 1976 he was co-executive director of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Ibiza, with Rafel Tur Costa and Leopoldo Irriguible. He has been Professor of Drawing and Full Professor of Drawing at various institutes and, above all, at the Tres Els Turons Institute in Arenys de Mar. Doctor in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona with the thesis: Theoretical and practical contributions on polyvalence, development and modular location. As a result of the study of modular forms, it made raids in the field of sculpture, such as La rosa dels vents, made in Palafrugell and located in Tamariu.In 2018 he began working on forms of space and carrying out sculptural projects as well as developing his pictorial work.

Pere explains to me - he gestures under his white ale-colored hair and, while he watches me, peeks behind his inward-looking glasses - that his painting is organic, that he has long been installed in a stage in which he likes to paint on live paper, a heterodox format, without sharp edges, not straight, like an irregular book, anarchically overflowing but with aesthetic harmony. Pere traverses a creative path stitched with emotions on the edge of the brush. 1.- Presentation The work of Pere Planells is a mature work in which he meditates on those essential and vital spaces where the perspective stops being visual to become tactile and pregnant with personal times. In his collections, he redefines the boundaries between the intimate and the public, between the me and the you. And he does it with simple and dynamic formulations and gestures, with daring compositions in which there is no shortage of nonpainting and non-painting that cry out for a reconstruction of the perceptual and aesthetic behaviors of the viewer. The works, on paper and cardboard, light lime white paper material that sinks its ancestral roots in the rocks of those streets that were once sculptures of his dreams. His works have veils, subtle scarves, with which the author pursues and manages - in my opinion to offer us, a living work in support and absorbed in exclamation.

Meditation time, time claimed from the anonymous gazes, or not, of those who allow themselves to be carried from within to others. This is a work that becomes a gateway to tectonic landscapes of sober flows, made from a serene meditation that travels over times and sensibilities so often neglected.

Encounter with art: works of the past

Pere Planells, began to be associated with art from his adolescence in an Ibiza where the modern movement enters the island in the midst of the Franco dictatorship. The cultural and artistic atmosphere of his land multiplied a capacity for visual expression imbued, as you can imagine, with the spirit of the avant-garde. For this reason his whole life would be accompanied by the desire for visual expression. Both before and during his studies, and throughout his professional life as a drawing teacher, such as Planells, he has not stopped creating a work of a polygonal, restless and passionate nature. Currently, retired from the regulated world of work and away from the bustling cities, in a more natural and secluded environment, he is carrying out a work without interference. His thinking is sharper and focused on more essential issues for life in its purest sense. In this section we can see some works discontinued by the author made throughout his life, so we can see that the works do not have their own technical file.

6.- Sculptures and projects Cubic itineraries are like traveling through the feminine symbolic belly, converted to generative geometry, with their positive norms turned into matter (itineraries) and negative ones: space and compositions that manifest themselves in the inverse, passive, non-actuated space.

We started this project of the cubic itineraries as an external phenomenon, but soon we realized that we lacked something in the project; we lacked the mystery of interiority, that place separated from the visual world, the externality, darkness and section of external aggressions where life is generated. That home, that darkness on the other side, adjacent to externality, a relative in its negativity of death, the place of return and the place where a new vital project is resumed.

In the picture of Gustave Courbet, the Origin of the World of 1866, which was also the origin of our idea, we can not see the interiority to which the title of the painting refers, but everyone can imagine, intuit; The belly has its dark area, which is nothing other than its interior space. In reference to our works (cubic itineraries), it may seem that we have added a base, but in fact it is nothing more than the annex space where we store the dark and negative material, the pantry of silence, the store of deep darkness, the opposite of living, the end and the beginning, the territory of potential transformations. This is another walk, this time for the mystery of non-life and, physically, a canned void that is inaccessible to perception and can only be intuited and deduced from its outline / continent.

Cubic itineraries are the vital anecdotal that is set in memory and takes private values, own, in every consciousness of the human being.
