Council is ready to negotiate a 10-year lease with Peregian Beach Surf Life Saving Club as it takes another big step towards true independence.
SURF CLUB LEASE DEAL THE JOURNEY OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE PEREGIAN BEACH SURF LIFESAVING CLUB RECEIVED ANOTHER BOOST ON APRIL 21 WHEN NOOSA COUNCILLORS VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO AUTHORISE COUNCIL’S CEO TO ENTER INTO NEGOTIATIONS FOR A 10-YEAR LEASE OF THE CLUBHOUSE AND SURROUNDS AT PEREGIAN BEACH.
Speaking to the motion at the meeting Councillor Amelia Lorenston took time to thank the community groups who had been instrumental in gathering support Eastern Beaches News - May 2022
for the club’s revival. The Councillors voted to approve the lease subject to a number of conditions, including having the lessee: • Publish annual reporting of progress toward establishment of the new Peregian Beach SLSC for the first three years of operations; • Set aside a suitable area for Surf Lifesaving Queensland to oversee Noosa Shire contract lifeguard operations as per the Surf Lifesaving Queensland Sunshine Coast Branch proposal; Continued, page 2
