FAMILY FRIENDLY LIFE AN EXTRA 1,359 PEOPLE CALLED COOLUM HOME ON CENSUS NIGHT 2021 COMPARED TO CENSUS NIGHT 2016.
The recent release of the latest Census data from 2021 by the Australian Bureau of Statistics also shows that the area added an extra 551 families, from 3,867 in 2016 to 4, 418 in 2021. The total population of the Coolum Beach statistical area is now 15,948, up from 14,589 in 2016. Other data shows that from 2016 to 2021 the median weekly income of residents rose from $1,324 to $1,703, and the median monthly mortgage payments rose Coolum News - August 2022
from $1,800 to $2,000. The area also skewed a little older. The median aged recorded in 2016 was 42 years. In 2021, that came in at 44 years. On the male versus female front, there were 8,186 females and 7,761 males counted on Census night 2021. While the vast majority of Coolum residents speak English at home (14,405), there were 459 households where the language spoken at home was other than English. The top five were German (99), Spanish (82), French (72), Portugese (62) and Afrikaans (49). We helped each other out too, with 2,180 people volunteering in the 12 months prior to the Census.
