Visitors from around the world are in Birmingham this month for the World Games.

We are so excited to welcome athletes, families, and guests to our Magic City!

Pepper Place is the destination for Birmingham’s best local food, retail, restaurants, and makers. The Pepper Place District is just blocks and, in some cases, steps away from World Games venues and parking.

Our buildings are historic and authentically Birmingham. Our shops and restaurants are one-of-a-kind destinations. Come experience the cuisine of our award-winning chefs, and shop for locally made, sourced, and designed goods. You won’t be disappointed.

On Saturdays – rain or shine – we host the Market at Pepper Place, the largest and best Farmers and Makers Market in the state. Alabama farmers bring fresh, locally grown produce, directly from the field. Local makers and artists bring unique handmade goods to sell at the Market too. There is something for everyone. On any given Saturday, hundreds of vendors, and thousands of people from all over the region visit Pepper Place.

A MARKET IN

BLOOM This certified Alabama farmers market has become a weekly ritual for thousands of locals.

What began as a small cluster of white tents for seven farmers in a parking lot has been integral to the revitalization of downtown Birmingham. Over the past twenty-plus years, the Market at Pepper Place has grown into a top ten tourist destination for the city, with an estimated 350,000 visitors each year. Our showcase of the best Birmingham has to offer has rippled far and wide. National magazines such as Garden & Gun, Bon Appetit, Cooking Light, and Southern Living, and newspapers including The New York Times have come for a visit and called us the best market in the Southeast–perhaps the nation.

Today, the market spreads over two city blocks and is held every Saturday, 7am-Noon, rain or shine. As a producer-only market, farmers sell their own Alabama-grown produce, and local makers offer everything from breakfast burritos, pastries, cheeses, and coffee, to hand-crafted goods like pottery, jewelry, home decor, art, and clothing.

The Market has become a true community.

Lifelong friendships are formed here, generations of families come together, musicians play, chefs cook, authors sign books, makers make. While you’re in town, we hope you’ll make time to shop and experience the Market for yourself!
