PARENT AND FAMILY GUIDE

Welcome

from President Jim Gash

Dear Pepperdine Parents and Family Members,

It is with great joy that I welcome you and your child to Pepperdine University as you embark together on this exciting voyage of knowledge, faith, and self-discovery. As a Christian institution, we know that education is about more than just academic achievement and advancement; it requires the nurturing of the whole person—mind, body, and soul. Pepperdine’s commitment to this belief sets us apart from other universities across the globe, and it is likely a major factor in your decision to entrust us with your greatest treasure. Our mission is to strengthen your children for lives of purpose, service, and leadership. And as the parents of three Seaver graduates, Joline and I know full well the joy and pain of watching our children both conquer obstacles and struggle to overcome the semester’s latest challenge. The unique perspectives of our children continue to help guide our family’s philanthropy as we seek to model Pepperdine’s motto “Freely ye received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8).

As the family of new students, your partnership and generosity make a tremendous impact on our provision of the best possible education and experience. Your commitment of time, talent, and treasure to Pepperdine will serve as an inspiration to others, and your child will develop and carry that sense of giving and gratitude long after they matriculate. In using this resource to settle your child into their new space, I challenge you to identify areas of interest for your family, and then engage with us however you are able!

Welcome to Pepperdine.

Warmly,

Jim Gash President and CEO
