Pupils will complete a project on ART and RELIGION: using the following skills - analysing, describing, explaining, comparing. They will do independent research and present their work to their peers.
They will also study some festivals from each of the 6 main religions.
Design Technology
• Pupils will continue to develop work inspired by Anna Boghiguian’s Chess Game, creating cut-out climate activist characters for a collaborative chess board to be exhibited in the ‘Threads of Change’ Creative Show.
• They will build practical skills using a hand jigsaw to cut their designs and refine portraiture techniques through painting expressive character studies.
• Pupils will explore how to scale up their designs accurately using proportion and an overhead projector to understand how technology can support and the drawing process.
• Their climate activist cutouts will contribute to a large-scale chess board encouraging collaboration and ambitious, joined outcomes.
• Pupils will develop drawing, painting and collage techniques and will evaluate their final pieces using key art vocabulary while participating in group critique and reflection.

In Games, the children will continue to develop the concepts of game play in netball and in rugby. In netball, the children will play 7 a side matches and will be able to play in a variety of positions around the court; they will be encouraged to focus on one or two favored positions to develop positional awareness and skills. They will continue to develop their core skills of passing, movement, attack, and defense. In rugby, the children will be developing their passing, running, positional and spatial awareness and their tackling skills in a controlled game environment with a focus on safety and correct tackle technique. They will also be introduced to some specific positions in matches.
Year 6 will focus on the more advanced water skills; Proficiency in competitive diving, Turns, finishing, endurance swim (25mins), fun activity- Water polo and Time trials during week 9 and 10.
