In English we continue to develop and apply our knowledge of phonic sounds. We will be reading increasingly challenging texts that reflect our growing phonic knowledge and applying these to spellings. We sound out words using ‘Fred Talk’ but also are also starting to use letter names to explain how we have spelt words. We continue to focus on developing our motor skills to support handwriting, where we are focusing on our letter size and position in relation to the line. We are continuing to develop using capital letters and full stops to demarcate sentences throughout a short piece of writing and use finger spaces between words.

In maths we have been developing our place value knowledge up to 50 and will continue this up to 100. We will learn to read and write numbers up to 100 in digits and words and be able to use practical resources to partition tens and ones. We will be learning to count on and back in jumps of 2s, 5s and 10s and practise sharing objects into 2 equal groups to support the concept of halving when dividing.
