Rushil Malde - Former Pupil Hello everyone! My name is Rushil, and I am one of Peponi's most recent graduates from the class of 2019.

Many of us have those experiences that we know we will remember and cherish for the rest of our lives, and my time at Peponi falls into that category without a doubt. Throughout high school, apart from academics, I was able to pursue my passions for drumming, community service, and various other things. Experiences such as last year’s musical, Cabaret, and leading the community service trip to Naro Moru, were some of the highlights of my high school life.

By taking all the opportunities that Peponi offered me, it allowed me to see things in new perspectives, learn more about working with people, and ultimately enabled me to learn valuable life skills. I became closer to so many people I never even imagined I would have spoken to and had some of the best times with them.

Don't take these opportunities for granted; they help you in many more ways than one. It is these experiences, memories, and most importantly, the bonds that I made with my peers and teachers that have made me have such a deep attachment to my time at Peponi.

At the moment, I'm in the pursuance of a degree in Economics & Finance at the University of Bristol. I'm in the middle of my first year, and it was definitely a tough transition in the beginning. Being away from home and the unfamiliarity of the environment and not seeing all the faces I used to see for the last 5 years made settling intimidating and quite tricky. However, with time, a few setbacks, and support, I adjusted, and now I'm proud to say that I'm enjoying university life more than I thought I would!

I am currently back in Kenya, studying online, but I cannot wait to be back in university to make the most of the time I have left before getting into a working life! After I graduate, I want to get a job to work in the financial sector in the UK, but ultimately, I plan on returning to Kenya and try to start up a successful business here.

As I continue my further studies and strive to actualize a successful career for myself, I still miss everything about my high school, and I can't imagine a time I won't. There are many things I would like to say to you all, including making the most of the opportunities you get and the time you have with the people around you. However, I'm sure you've heard that before, so I'll leave you with one more piece of advice: make sure you're truly present in the moments that will become memories because a bittersweet truth is, you're going to wish they hadn't gone by so fast.

Dehydration Dehydration occurs when your body does not have enough water to maintain its usual functions.

This happens when your water intake is not enough to replace your water loss.

Excessive sweating, intense breathing due to vigorous activities, and hot weather can cause dehydration. Other common causes include vomiting, diarrhea, and fevers.

Complications The body needs water to carry out a large variety of processes in the body.

If your body is dehydrated, it cannot function properly and there can be several short-term and long-term consequences.

Signs and Symptoms Mild or moderate dehydration can lead to; A dry mouth or tongue Thirst Dark-colored urine or decreased urination Dizziness, nausea, headaches Dry skin, including chapped lips Constipation Tiredness Severe dehydration can lead to; Inability to sweat or produce tears Extreme thirst Little to no urine production Rapid heartbeat or low blood pressure Fevers Unconsciousness.

What Can Be Done?

The simplest and most effective way to treat dehydration is to increase the amount of water and fluids in the body.

Most cases of mild or moderate dehydration can be resolved with the oral intake of water. More severe cases of dehydration may require intravenous (IV) hydration.

Conclusion A simple method to keep yourself hydrated is to keep a water bottle with you at all times and sip it throughout the day.

Snippets Of The 2020 Princeton Science Project For Shell Diploma In the 2020 Hilary Term, the Science Faculty ran a 10-week Science Project for the Shell Diploma.

Pupils had to choose a topic in one of the Science subjects and then carry out a detailed investigation under supervision of their teachers.

The topics were as follows; Chemistry - Supervisors: Mr. E. Wachara and Mr. C. Kamande 1.

Recipe from Chef Silvester Greek Salad Anyone who has spent a holiday in Greece will have eaten a version of this salad the Greeks’ equivalent of a mixed salad. Its success relies on using the freshest ingredients, including sun-ripened tomatoes, and a good olive oil. The salad is presented in various ways. Some cooks like to crumble in the feta so that it mixes with all the other ingredients. Others place a slice of feta on top.

Serves 6 450g/ 1lb well-flavoured plum tomatoes 1 small cos or romaine lettuce, trimmed 1 cucumber 4 spring onions (scallions), sliced 200g/7oz feta cheese 50g/2oz 1 ½ cup pitted black olives, halved Preparation: 16 minutes; Cooking: 0 minutes Skin the tomatoes, cut a small cross in the blossom end each fruit and place them in a heatproof bowl. Poor over boiling water to cover and leave to stand for 1-2 minutes, or until the skin starts to peel back from the crosses. Drain the tomatoes and slip off the skins set aside to cool slightly.

Slice the cos or romaine lettuce. Peel the cucumber: cut it in half and remove the seeds with a teaspoon, then chop the cucumber flesh. Slice the spring onions.

Place the peeled tomatoes on a chopping board. Using a sharp cook’s knife, cut into quarters and then into eighths. Put them in a bowl and add the lettuce, cucumber and spring onions. Crumble in the feta cheese or leave it whole, placing it on top of the salad. Add the olives.

Make the dressing. In a bowl, whisk together the olive oil and lemon juice, then season with salt and ground black pepper, and whisk again. Pour the dressing over the salad. Using salad servers, toss to mix well and serve immediately.

Cooking Club

Pesto Pasta This is a really, easy tasty meal that you can make in large quantities.

You can get shop bought pesto (Basil Sacla is my favourite) or you can have a go at making your own pesto which is super easy.

Ingredients: Pasta - any shape you like Jar of shop bought pesto One tub of crème fraiche or natural yoghurt Parmesan cheese to serve If you want to make your own pesto you need: Large bunch of basil 4 tablespoons of olive oil A handful of pine nuts Salt and pepper Just blend together all the pesto ingredients and you are done!

Method: Boil a saucepan of water with a teaspoon of salt in it. When this is properly boiling but in the pasta for the amount of time that it says on the pack, usually around 9 minutes.

Either mix the jar of pesto or your homemade version with three tablespoons of crème fraiche and season with salt and pepper.

Once the pasta is cooked drain the pasta and add it to the creamy pesto mix.

Top with parmesan and serve!

Simple and delicious. You can add ham, chicken, mushrooms, or just about anything else if you want to experiment.
