Breaking it Down

Mayor Bob Barrett

It is recommended that adults take 10,000 steps each day to increase health and wellness through walking. Why not grab the kiddos and head out for a walk around your neighborhood park a couple of evenings each week? Get Spot on a leash and he can get some exercise too.

Bob.Barrett@peoriaaz.gov

Ron Aames Vice Mayor Palo Verde District Ron.Aames@peoriaaz.gov

• 66% of children reported walking to school in 1970 • 13% of children report walking to school today • 21-34% of US adults meet public health recommendations for physical activity by walking (5 times per week, for at least 30 minutes) • 2,000 steps an average person takes per mile
