New England Women in Banking to Honor People’s President and CEO, Ellen Ford with Leadership Award The New England Women in Banking Conference will award People’s President and CEO, Ellen Ford, with the Sandra J. Pattie Distinguished Leadership Award on Friday, October 26th at the Hotel Viking. The New England Women in Banking Conference attracts leaders from banks, credit unions and mortgage companies to hear a strong mix of compelling presentations from inspirational women in the financial services industry. The Sandra J. Pattie Distinguished Leadership Award honors women who have made outstanding contributions to the banking landscape in New England. Ellen will receive the award in recognition of her role as a business leader and community advocate.
Boldrdash concluded the first "B3 Trifecta" with Boldrdash at the Beach event and the marketing team enjoyed the day handing out healthy snacks, branded sunglasses , and cheering on the participants. New Federal Law Allows Consumers to Place Free Credit Freezes And Yearlong Fraud Alerts
Under the new Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act, consumers in all states will no longer have to pay fees to freeze their credit. A credit freeze, also known as a security freeze, restricts access to a consumer’s credit file, making it harder for identity thieves to open new accounts in the consumer’s name. The new law also allows parents to freeze for free the credit of their children who are under 16, while guardians, conservators, and those with a valid power of attorney can get a free freeze for their dependents. In addition, the new law extends the duration of a fraud alert on a consumer’s credit report from 90 days to one year. A fraud alert requires businesses that check a consumer’s credit to get the consumer’s approval before opening a new account. As part of its work to implement the new law, the Federal Trade Commission has updated its IdentityTheft.gov website with credit bureau contact information, making it easier for consumers to take advantage of the new provisions outlined in the law. To place a credit freeze on accounts, consumers will need to contact all three nationwide credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. Whether consumers ask for a freeze online or by phone, the credit bureau must put the freeze in place within one business day. When consumers request to lift the freeze by phone or online, the credit bureaus must take that action within one hour. (If consumers make these requests by mail, the agency must place or lift the freeze within three business days.) People’s Pudge Patrol Bakes, Walks and Raises Money for the Potter League The employee driven Community Enhancement Committee came together to create People’s Pudge Patrol to raise funds and walk in the Potter League’s Heart & Sole Walk on Sunday, October 14th. Pudge’s Patrol consisted of over 30 employees who raised funds and walked the one or two mile walk at Glen Park. Animal lovers and their furry friends also enjoyed refreshments, music, demonstrations, pet contests, an agility course, and even food trucks! Thanks to the efforts of our members and employees the team's fundraising goal was reached. Employees did their fundraising on their own time, held a bake sale, put together a Cutest Pet Contest and held a Casual for a Cause Day to reach their goal. Congratulations to Little Papi, a member of the Wakefield Branch who won the employee voted pet contest. All the proceeds raised from the Heart & Sole Walk will help the Potter League provide life saving medical care, the very best nutrition, enrichment and all the support every animal needs to be placed in a wonderful home. As a local, private non-profit, what we do is possible thanks to the generous support from people in our community.

Employee Spotlight Louann Lawrence Chair, Board of Directors For 27 years, Mrs. Lawrence, has owned and operated Louann Lawrence CPA & Associates, Inc., an Accounting, Tax & Payroll Office serving small business and individuals. Previously, Mrs. Lawrence served on the Credit Union Supervisory Committee and has served on the board since 1997. She has also served as a board member for the Newport County Chamber of Commerce, The Portsmouth Rotary and she currently serves on the board of IMS, Inc a local manufacturing company. She lives in Portsmouth with her husband and two dogs which can often be found at the office.
Kerry Parent Vice President Human Resources Meet Kerry Parent our Vice President of Human Resources! Kerry has been in Human Resources for over 20 years recruiting, screening, interviewing and placing workers across many industries all in Human Resource roles. Kerry lives in Seekonk with her husband and two children Sarah and Sophia, and their two dogs Bobo and Murphy. She and the family spend time at gymnastic meets, lacrosse games and being in the outdoors at much as possible!
Pudge’s Corner! Pudge has been busy keeping the smiles on our employees and member’s faces over the last month. The People’s Pudge Patrol team participated in the Potter League’s Heart & Sole Walk on Sunday, October 14th. Pudge was a prominent member of the marketing team and helped to hand out People’s SWAG to his fellow fur friends. Pudge was also the third place winner of the Potter League’s PS I Love You Photo Contest. We received our prize of an oil painting which came in and is hanging proudly near the office of President and CEO, Ellen Ford. He even celebrated his 3rd birthday with some of his favorite employees. Pudge waited patiently for his cake while he was serenaded Happy Birthday.
