What’s Better Than a Day at the Beach? We are honored to be a sponsor of Clean Ocean Access, supporting the goals of World Oceans Day to prevent plastic pollution and cleaning the ocean of marine litter. Clean Ocean Access is a local non-profit that envisions a healthy ocean free of marine debris with water that is safe for all ocean activities and a shoreline that is accessible to the public. Employees had a blast volunteering to help clean up Easton’s Beach!

Have RI Bridges gotten in the way of your ride? We are psyched to partner with Bike Newport to make getting around even easier! On Saturdays through the summer and early fall there will be a FREE shuttle service for people and bicycles with pickup and drop off on either side of the bridges – in North Kingstown, Jamestown, and Newport. Reservation recommended at ribridgebikeshuttle.com Be sure to cancel if you know you can’t make it. By doing so you free up that space for someone else.

Why Are We Doing This? This free shuttle for bikers and riders will enhance the communities that we serve. People’s Credit Union is proud to be a partner of this exciting and innovative initiative. – Ellen Ford, President & CEO

Annette Correia, Our Sr. Deposit Operations Representative, Celebrates 40 Years at People’s Credit Union Tiffany Costa, Deposit Operations Manager, had this to say about Annette: “In 1978, Jimmy Carter was President, the Garfield comic strip debuted in the paper, gas was $0.63 a gallon and on Monday, July 3rd, Annette started her career at People’s. Over the past 40 years, Annette has held many positions and has become a trusted source of information in each one of them. Over time she became known as the go-to person for everything IRA and is always there to make a difficult situation seem just a bit easier. Looking back to that Monday morning when Annette walked into the branch to start her career her at People’s, no one could have guessed that 40 years later she would become such an important resource to our members and our staff.

Building Financially Capable Communities Our Rhode Island Financial Scholars Program brings financial literacy to area high schools by utilizing EverFi, an online platform for financial education. The program is designed to empower students to make safe, smart and informed decisions. The courses cover important themes, including, saving and investing, banking, credit cards and interest rates, credit scores, financing higher education and many more topics, giving students the tools they’ll need to successfully manage their finance future. People’s is FANatic About Reading with the Newport Gulls Recently, People’s employees (including our Mascot, Pudge) took to Cardines Field to volunteer their time collecting tickets at the gates, handing out programs, foam fingers, rally towels, and selling 50/50 raffle tickets in the stands. Andrew Costa, our Network Administrator, even sang the National Anthem! As part of our FANatic About Reading Program the Gulls players read to classroom students around Aquidneck Island during the month of June. Gulls handed out bookmarks which were used to encourage students to read four books and receive free admission to the game, have special recognition on the field, and receive a complimentary book from People’s during the pre-game ceremony. Thank you to all of the students who read their books and came out to support the Gulls!!
