Bringing this story to the stage has been an incredible journey, and I am deeply grateful for the dedication, talent, and passion of everyone involved. To our dedicated production team, our extraordinary cast, and our tireless crew—your vision, passion, and hard work have shaped this show, brought its story to life on stage, and created magic behind the scenes. Thank you.
Even the tallest tales have a kernel of truth at their heart and at its heart, Big Fish is a simple story about relationship, love, imagination, and the power of storytelling. It reminds us that the stories we tell and the way we choose to remember those stories, shape our connections with those we love. In a time when the world can feel scary and uncertain, Big Fish encourages us to find joy in the extraordinary, rediscover a sense of awe, marvel at the beauty in the everyday, and to cherish the moments and people that define our lives. It is a reminder that our lives are measured not just by facts, but by the impact we have on others.
Enjoy the show!

Archie in The Secret Garden, Igor in Young Frankenstein, Gomez in The Addams Family, Angel in Rent, William Barfeé in Spelling Bee, Seymour in The Little Shop of Horrors, and Norbert in The Great American Trailer Park, the Musical. In his real life, Jeff is an insurance agent representing American National Insurance in the Monmouth/Independence area.
Hannah is thrilled to make her Pentacle Theatre debut in Big Fish. While this is her first time on the Pentacle stage, she is no stranger to the world of performance.
Hannah is a singer/ songwriter/recording artist based here in Salem. She has released over 10 singles, but is most proud of her debut album, Hello to a Woman, released in February with Room Four
Productions (Keizer). Hannah also had the privilege of working in Nashville summer of 2024 to connect with industry professionals and complete a 4-song project with Off the Row Studio.
Hannah hopes to continue her musical journey with an interdisciplinary focus. With the help of her vocal teacher, Kara Quello, Hannah plans to expand her musical repertoire in as many styles as possible. Most importantly, Hannah would like to thank her ever-supportive fiancé, Dylan Moore, and their fur baby, Binx.
Matt is a dedicated member of the community, both as a healthcare professional and a supporter of the arts. In 2009, he established Woolsey Family Dental in Dallas, Oregon, where he continues to provide comprehensive dental care to his patients. Beyond his dental practice, Matt has been actively involved with the Pentacle Theatre since 2013. His contributions include serving on the board of directors and performing in lead roles in productions such as The Secret Garden, Les Misérables, Young Frankenstein, and Beauty and the Beast. He also coaches competitive youth softball, sharing his passion for sports with young athletes. Matt resides in Dallas with his wife, Katie, and their three daughters. His family is a cornerstone of his life, and he credits their support for his professional and community endeavors.
Mid-Valley Theatre Network is an alliance of theatre organizations with the mission of supporting, promoting, and uniting theatre communities in and around the Mid-Willamette Valley
A creative element of Pentacle’s productions that some audience members may only subliminally appreciate is the artistry involved in the design and execution of creating each play’s set. Pentacle’s performance space is interestingly unique from a viewer’s perspective, but it is uniquely challenging for a set designer: there is little to no wing space on the sides or behind the stage area and no fly space above the stage to bring in set pieces and painted scenery. As a result, we rely on our designers’ creativity and the audience’s imagination as we tackle the technical challenges presented by the shows selected for each season.
An impressive example of this type of ingenuity was evident in this season’s opener, Arsenic and Old Lace. Although it required a single “unit” set, it involved creating three levels, along with a cobweb-infested cellar and a corpse-occupied window seat. Technical director Chris Benham designed and built a set that was not only functional, but also a feast for the eyes. Special credit also goes to show director Scott Ramp and volunteer Lisa Closner, whose decorative elements added the detail necessary to create the atmospheric habitat of the two homicidal aunts featured in the play.
I highly recommend that audience members for Big Fish take the time to go down to the lobby and view the display honoring the work of Chris’s predecessor as Pentacle’s technical director, Tony Zandol. This exhibit shows how versatile and impressive our space can be, despite what might be seen as structural limitations. In the years to come, I hope to see Chris’s work similarly honored!
