Pentacle Theatre // Season 2026
DIRECTOR'S LETTER
Angel Street (Gaslight) may be set in Victorian London, but the fear at its center feels remarkably familiar. What happens when someone deliberately begins to undermine your sense of reality—until you no longer trust your own eyes, ears, or instincts? Patrick Hamilton’s thriller gives theatrical form to the slow, calculated destruction of self-trust. The dimming gaslight, the missing object, the unexplained sound, and the confident denial are not simply elements of a mystery; they are instruments of manipulation. Little by little, Bella is encouraged to question what she knows to be true. In directing this production, I have been less interested in presenting Angel Street as a period piece than in exposing the timeless mechanics of its psychological terror. My hope is that the suspense of Angel Street draws you into Bella’s experience—to make you question what she questions, fear what she fears, and ultimately feel the extraordinary courage it takes to reclaim one’s own reality.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT Pentacle Theatre in Salem is located within the ancestral homelands of the Kalapuya, Yamhill, and Luckiamute people who have lived here since time immemorial. In the 1850s, these tribes were displaced by colonization and were eventually resettled on reservations. We celebrate and honor the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz members, their resilience, and their present and future right to this land. This is Gregory's first time directing at Pentacle Theatre. Previously, he was Assistant Director here for Leading Ladies (2017) and The Aliens (2016). His other more recent local directing credits include Night Mother, Miss Julie, and Becky Shaw at the Verona Studio.
Seth is proud to be a part of this production. He would like to thank the cast for their hard work, Gregory for his leadership and direction, and his family for the time to work on this production. Thank you for supporting live theater in Salem.

CAST & CREW Claire Coulson Mrs. Bella Manningham (understudy)
Christopher Gray Mr. Manningham
Most recently seen onstage at Pentacle in Big Fish as The Witch, Claire (she/ they) is grateful for the opportunity to get to understudy with such a talented cast. Some of their favorite productions include Little Women, Much Ado About Nothing, Anatomy of Grey, The Cake, Little Shop of Horrors, and Macbeth. When not onstage, Claire dedicates her time to fostering Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) through workshop facilitation, and works as the Program Development Specialist for Punx with Purpose. The proud parent of two resilient, thoughtful, and abundantly talented teens, Ell and Liv, Claire is unendingly grateful for their love and support—they are her “everfixed mark.”
Christopher returns to the Pentacle stage after his debut as Mr. Darcy in Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberly in 2024. He began his acting career in Denver, spending his evenings taking workshops and classes and honing his skills in student and short films, along with some commercial work, while doing voiceover from his home studio. Moving to Los Angeles in 2014, he continued to appear in a number of small films and TV roles, built a career in commercial voiceover, and enjoyed performing long-form improv. He is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and has also spent a fair amount of time behind the camera as everything from a set PA to DP to editor, even assistant talent agent. Drawn to the PNW, Christopher moved to Salem in 2022, and can often be found on the pickleball court or a paddleboard.

Pentacle Theatre // Season 2026
CAST & CREW Lucy Jolivette Police Officer Lucy Jolivette is making her theatrical debut. She is very excited to take this important first step into the world of theater and continue developing her craft. Lucy discovered her passion for acting through classes at Pentacle Theatre and Portland Center Stage. Outside of theater, she enjoys expressing her creativity through writing, drawing, and cooking.
Amy Marie Miller Nancy Although audiences have seen her scenic painting work (A Comedy of Tenors, Something Rotten), Angel Street marks Amy Marie’s first Pentacle performance. Previous roles include Queen Titania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Keizer Homegrown Theater), Queen Eurydice (Antigone, University of Oregon), Princess Buttercup (The Princess Bride, Pocket Playhouse), Martha Cratchit (A Christmas Carol, University of Oregon), Buttons/ Bowery Beauty (Newsies, Non-Stop Players), The Editor in the short film Papier Maker, and a brief appearance in the Criterion Collection’s video from their Portland visit in May. While studying journalism and theater at the University of Oregon, she also served as Co-Chair and Social Media Chair for the studentproduced Pocket Playhouse. In 2023,
she was the (formerly) Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival’s Region VII recipient for Excellence in Theater Journalism and Advocacy. When she’s not here, she’s either at the movies with Forrest and Quaye or on Letterboxd.
Mariah Perryman Police Officer Mariah’s past experience includes The Wizard of Oz as the Wicked Witch at Lane Middle School, Catch Me If You Can as ensemble, Hairspray as Lorraine, and Something Rotten as ensemble and Jennifer Hollandaise (Sad Little Egg) at Pentacle Theatre. Mariah is a private chef and caterer who owns Savored Soul Catering Company. She’s had the honor of catering Pentacle Theatre opening nights! Outside of work, she enjoys reading, painting, sewing, outdoor activities, and curling up with her cat, Etta. She’s thrilled to be part of this production.
Robert Sim Inspector Rough Rob is back onstage after playing Mr. Depinna in You Can't Take It With You. A veteran of over fifty performances since 1982, Rob has also run lights and sound. Backstage, he has done nearly every job possible. Rob also works on the Strike Crew, helping build the sets we perform on. Pentacle Theatre \\ Season 2026

CAST & CREW Delaney Sump Bella Manningham
Danna Swanenberg Elizabeth
Delaney is thrilled to make her debut on the Pentacle stage as the unmoored and vaguely haunted Bella Manningham. Despite the fierce manipulation and uncertainty that have swallowed Bella’s life whole, she keeps a few tricks up her sleeve and ultimately reclaims her sense of identity. All is not lost for Bella or any of us. We are never truly alone; even in our darkest moments, some light can be found. Unless it’s from a gaslight. She’s heard you shouldn’t trust those.
Danna is excited to make her Pentacle Theatre debut as Elizabeth in Angel Street. Though this may be her first appearance at Pentacle, she may be a familiar face to audiences at other local theaters. Most recently, she was seen in JQA at Keizer Homegrown Theatre. Other roles include the ever-chatty Truvy Jones in Steel Magnolias, Dinah in Quality of Life, and Gloria in Grace and Glory. She has also played the delightfully dramatic Ursula in There Goes the Bride and the heartfelt Maggie in Sarah, Plain and Tall. When she’s not on stage, Danna can often be found gathered around a table, rolling dice and telling stories as an avid tabletop RPG gamer with Salem Tabletop.
Delaney hopes you enjoy your stay in Victorian London and leave the theater feeling only slightly less certain of reality. When not on stage or screen, Delaney works as a Registered Dietitian helping people navigate the equally dramatic world of health and wellness. She also enjoys writing, painting, traveling, and might move to Europe at any moment, just for fun.
She’s grateful for the opportunity to make her Pentacle debut and to share the magic of live theater with the wonderful audiences who make it all so special.

CAST & CREW Patrick Hamilton Playwright Patrick Hamilton (1904-1962) was born in Hassocks, Sussex in 1904. He and his parents moved a short while later to Hove, where he spent his early years. He published his first novel, Craven House, in 1926 and within a few years had established a wide readership for himself. Despite personal setbacks and an increasing problem with drink, he was still able to write some of his best work. His plays include the thrillers Rope (1929) – on which Alfred Hitchcock's film Rope was based – and Gaslight (1938), also successfully adapted for screen in the same year. He also wrote the historical drama The Duke in Darkness (1943). Among his novels are The Midnight Bell (1929), The Siege of Pleasure (1932), The Plains of Cement (1934), a trilogy entitled Twenty Thousand Streets Under the Sky (1935), Hangover Square (1941) and The Slaves of Solitude (1947). The Gorse Trilogy is made up of The West Pier, Mr Stimpson and Mr Gorse, and Unknown Assailant, which were first published during the 1950s.

PRESIDENT'S CORNER Dear friends of Pentacle Theatre, Catch Me If You Can flew into our theater and landed in our hearts. From the amazing projections/lighting to the fun choreography and dazzling costumes, this show had it all! A huge thank you to the director Wendy Boyak, the creative team, stage crew, band & fantastic cast for bringing this story to life. Stage4All is a dedicated fund that Pentacle Theatre is growing to create the Brown-Jolivette Endowment Fund at the Oregon Community Foundation. This endowment will provide lasting support for theatrical productions and programs that amplify the stories, voices, and experiences of underrepresented groups and marginalized people. Angel Street (Gaslight) will be hosting a benefit performance during the run to support the Stage4All program. Please consider joining us to help support and build up this fund. We believe theater can help us see the world through someone else’s eyes—to build understanding, foster empathy, celebrate diverse experiences, and create meaningful connections within our community. Together, we can create a lasting legacy where more voices are heard, more stories are celebrated, and there is a place for everyone on the stage and in the audience. Our website has a “One Time Donation” link that gives the option of donating directly to the fund. Your gift to Stage4All helps us build that future. We held our Annual Volunteer Picnic at the end of September. This day is dedicated to EVERY person who has ever volunteered for Pentacle in any capacity. We want to recognize all the hard work and dedication that make our theater successful. Congratulations to the 2026 award recipients: Executive Director Award: Dee Montgomery-Smith Technical Director Award: Antonio Schoaps President Award: Mary Ann Black Volunteer of the Year: Karen McCarty Thank you for all your continued support! Pentacle continues to thrive with the amazing support of our members, sponsors & volunteers. All my best,
