As we move deeper into 2026, Pensacola Habitat for Humanity is carrying strong momentum into the year ahead The first few months have already shown what is possible when partners, donors, volunteers, civic leaders, and families work together around a shared goal: expanding access to affordable homeownership in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties
That work is especially clear in our upcoming Hancock Meadows development, a 33-lot neighborhood that represents an important step forward for affordable homeownership in Escambia County Hancock Meadows reflects where Pensacola Habitat is headed as an organization building not just individual homes, but stronger neighborhoods supported by thoughtful planning, committed partners, and long-term community benefit

Our partnerships continue to open new pathways for families who are working hard but increasingly priced out of the housing market One example is Blueprint to Homeownership, a partnership designed to help families access quality homes within city limits at a price point that would otherwise be out of reach Efforts like this show how collaboration can turn public land, private support, and nonprofit execution into real housing solutions
Across all of our work, Pensacola Habitat remains focused on removing barriers to homeownership and creating practical opportunities for qualified buyers Community support allows us to expand our programs, strengthen our developments, and continue finding new ways to serve families in a housing market that remains difficult for many
As we look ahead, our commitment remains the same: to serve more families, strengthen neighborhoods, and create lasting impact throughout Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. None of this work happens alone. Because of the tremendous support of this community, we are not only building more affordable homes we are helping build a stronger future for Northwest Florida.

Volunteers are what make our work possible and our organization thrive. They dedicate their time, energy and passion to all the build sites Volunteers truly are a huge force behind what Pensacola Habitat does, and it’s not just limited to the build site or the ReStore! Thanks to a dedicated volunteer’s efforts, we received a $40,000 donation from Airbnb’s Community Fund towards our Women Build 2026 campaign! This generous donation is a huge help in our efforts to reach our new Women Build fundraising goal of $175,000 and showcases how inspired members of our community can make a tangible difference. With the support from partners like Airbnb, we are closer to reaching our fundraising goals and can continue to build affordable homes in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. Maria and Bob moved to Pensacola in 2021 for a better life for their daughter, Samantha. After a diabetes related accident, Samantha was left nonverbal and unable to walk, requiring full-time care from her mother and father. Over the years, everyday tasks like showering became more difficult for Maria Getting into their tub involved a large step and it was a tight space, which made something as simple as bathing her daughter one the hardest parts of the day
"I couldn't give her a proper shower, so we did a lot of bed baths. I was worried about her safety getting in out of the tub. It was just really hard every day. Something so simple felt impossible.”

With the help of our Community Development Program, Maria no longer has to worry about lifting her daughter into the tub or either of them slipping. “It’s safer for her, and me too.”
The Jones family bathroom was completely renovated into a fully accessible walk-in shower with a new vanity and toilet The impact was immediate.
"The smile on her face, I feel like her life and my life has been elevated. Our quality of life went from a 2 to a 10.”
Our Community Development Program works to help existing homeowners preserve their homeownership, strengthen our community and empower residents to be a force for change. Learn more about our ongoingeffortsatpensacolahabitat.org/communitydevelopment.
