Buyer’s Options

Your business/organization can support the members by purchasing a market steer at the sale. If you are unsure of what you can do with your steer, here are a few options:

1. The 4-H clubs are ready to provide the transportation of the steers to the destination of your choice, at no extra cost

2. For your convenience, the Rocky 4-H Beef Show and Sale Committee has multiple spots booked at local abattoirs for slaughter and processing and will provide delivery of your steer to the processor.

3. There will also be a buy back program available for your purchased steer. The steer will be sent to the next local live auction sale. Please check auction reports for potential pricing. The buyback value will be the difference between the live auction sale price and the 4-H sale price. (ie) If the 4-H sale price is $3/lb on a 1200lb steer , the cost is $3600. If the sale price at a local live auction is $2.00/lbs then the buyback purchaser will receive $2400 with he auction sale, brand inspection and fees deducted from the live auction sale price. 4. You could donate it to the local food bank.

WHO WE ARE…

Rocky South 4-H Beef Club

This year the Rocky South Beef Club consists of 35 members, which bring 28 great steers to the show and sale, 11 yearling heifer projects, 5 2yr old cow calf projects and 2 3yr old cow calf projects. And of course the future of our 4-H program 6 eager cleaver kids.

Our club year is an enjoyable and fulfilling year, as we participate in many functions and gatherings, including Community Service, Public speaking, judging and highway clean up. We have spent time together with our projects honing our skills in showmanship and some grooming skills. Us members learn responsibilities not only from feeding and caring for our projects. But also running our own meetings and making club decisions as a group. The Rocky South Club is a strong club with strong growth every year thank you in part to all of our parents, volunteers and supporters . We also could not be part of such a great program without all of our sponsors and buyers. On behalf of myself and all the members we would like to thank them all again for investing in us youth in agriculture. Thank you!! Your support is appreciated KorbinKatona , Vice president

Rocky North 4-H Multi Club

has been in operation for 49 years. When the club first started it was a beef club, but the members decided to open the club up to greater possibilities and change over to a multi club. The main project is still beef, where we offer market beef projects, carcass projects and female/breeding projects. In addition to our beef program we offer many other projects for our members that are both livestock and non-livestock based projects. We also have K9, goat, baking, small engines, beekeeping and Cleaver kid that we run this year. Last year we merged the Leslieville Trail Trotters club and now also have a horse project in our club. In the past we have offered woodworking, small engines, welding, or scrapbooking. Our members get well-rounded project options in our multi club along with leadership, communication, judging, marketing, entrepreneurial skills and community connection. We encourage our members to reach out beyond club level and participate in other 4-H events at district, regional and provincial levels. Our club is a great place for members to socialize, make lifelong friendships and of course eat great food.

He likes to follow me around his pen for more scratches while I’m doing chores. I’m really going to miss him after show and sale day, but I’m already looking forward to next year! Hopefully I’ll see you at the sale!

Hi! My name is Katie and this is my second year as a Junior and my fourth year in 4-H. Last year was my first year showing and it was a great experience. I bought a steer who I've named Black Spruce, he is a Simmental x Angus from Trevor Marcinek. I usually just call him Steery, Sprucer or just beasty. This steer is such a different animal than my steer last year. He may be a turd sometimes and quite stubborn but he is very friendly and gentle, and he can be a bit goofy. Black Spruce has been really good to work with so far. Remember last year when I said if my steer sells well I would buy a Corgi puppy!? Well I did, and his name is Rex! Him and I go to do my chores every day, he's fun and outgoing... we make the best partners. When not working with my 4-H projects, I love to read, write and draw. I enjoy Ballet and Basketball, playing with the dogs and our other animals.

He is purebred black angus and was 800 pounds at weigh in and I hope for him to be 1300 pounds by show on sale day. I enjoy hunting and farming when I am not working with my steer. I hope to see you at show and sale this year and in the future.

Hello, my name is Addisyn Katona and this is my 6th year in 4-H and my steer’s name is Moolicious. I named him that because he is going to be delicious. He is a tan yellow steer with white on his legs and a white strip on his head. I really see you all at show and sale at the Kurt Browning Arena on May 22nd. I would like to tank my last year’s buyer Mateo Oilfield for buying my last year’s steer Leory.

Yearling Heifer Projects

Hey! This is my first year doing a heifer project and I am using my very first Cleaver project's calf who I've named Mocha. She was born later in 2024 but she was so sweet and cute that I was excited to use her! She is a Simmental x Brown Swiss. She is good in the halter though she can be rather sassy at times. She likes when you give her compliments and she prances around like she is so very proud of herself. Mocha also is a grain hog so I have to be careful she doesn't steal Black Spruce's grain!

Hey there, Ben deBruyn here. This year I have another nice purebred Simmental heifer who I bought off of Swantewitt Simmentals. Her name is Maria and I am glad to get to show her this year. My hope is to one day have a purebred herd of my own. I am hoping to breed her to a purebred fleckvieh bull and hopefully get a really nice calf off her next year.

My name is Andromeda Cochran. I am 11 years old. This is my second year in 4-H. I also have a heifer project this year. Her name is Rascal. I am excited to show her and have her for a future cow in my little herd that I am building up.

My favourite songs are: God I need a favour, anything by Lainey Wilson and Give a boy a baseball. I love going to school. I love playing baseball. Teddy Bear was purchased from Lucky Spring Farms. Thank you for raising such a nice heifer and for all of your guidance this year!
