Message from the Show & Sale Committee
After a couple years of uncertain and ever changing times it looks like we are going to be getting back to a more normal show and sale this year. We want to send out an enormous and sincere thank you and appreciation to all the buyers and supporters over the last couple years that have continued, even during these trying times, to support the show and sale and most especially the members. Your amazing support of the 4-H program and youth of our community has been phenomenal. The 4-H Learn To Do By Doing motto has definitely been put into good practice over the last couple years for the members with the need to switch most all their marketing and selling to a virtual platform. We appreciate all the patience and efforts on the buyers part to stick with us thru the necessary virtual times. It will be nice to be able to see and talk to you all in person again this year. Buyer’s Options Your business/organization can support the members by purchasing a market steer at the sale. If you are unsure of what you can do with your steer, here are a few options: 1. The 4-H clubs are ready to provide the transportation of the steers to the destination of your choice, at no extra cost 2. For your convenience, the Rocky 4-H Beef Show and Sale Committee has multiple spots booked at local abattoirs for slaughter and processing and will provide delivery of your steer to the processor. 3. There will also be a buy back program available for your purchased steer. The steer will be sent to the next local live auction sale. Please check auction reports for potential pricing. The buyback value will be the difference between the live auction sale price and the 4-H sale price. (ie) If the 4-H sale price is $3/lb on a 1200lb steer , the cost is $3600. If the sale price at a local live auction is $2.00/lbs then the buyback purchaser will receive $2400 with the auction sale, brand inspection and fees deducted from the live auction sale price.
4. You could donate it to the local food bank.

Kendra Wedman Hello, I’m Kendra Wedman, I’m 10 years old. This is my fourth year in 4-H, but this is my first year as a junior member. My steers name is Joey. I've raised Joey since he was a day old, he is my cleaver project from last year. He has been my little buddy for over a year now. Joey is a Simmental Cross Steer. Joey weighed 447 lbs on Oct. 30, 2021. On Show Day I hope he weighs in at over 1100 lbs because I've been feeding him a really good ration that he loves. I’m very excited for our Show & Sale on May 26, 2022!! See you there!
Luke Gerdung Hello, My name is Luke Gerdung. Thank you for taking the time to read about me and my steer. My steer Smokey was born and raised by me and his mom Fire. He is Homegrown. Smokey is my first Steer project, he is a Charolais/Angus Cross. I feed Smokey grain and hay, he is the first one at the feed trough. At weigh-in Smokey weighed 506 lbs, and he is growing like a pig. I love to get a brush to scratch his back and belly. He is the best steer for me. Thank you for coming to our Show and Sale.
Derrick Stewart Hey, If you didn’t know I’m Derrick Stewart, and this is my steer (He doesn’t have a name yet). He’s a red Angus/Simmental cross. In my free time I play guitar, go quadding, listen to music and enjoy nature. I’ve been in 4-H as a full member for 7 years now, every year being with the Rocky South 4-H Beef Club. I want to thank all 4-H supporters and buyers from last year, and years past. I hope to see ya’ll there.
Dennis Stewart My name is Dennis Stewart and this my 10th year in 4-H. This year my steers name is Jack Daniels (JD). He is a simmental cross. I chose him because he is a deep soggy calf with good confirmation and he will be great tasting in a lucky buyer's freezer. Socks is a Simmental X and has been a handful of a project for me this year. We got off to a rough start halter breaking but have gotten so much better with work. Cord Scott Hello, my name is Cord Scott. I am 11 years old and a third year Junior with the Rocky South 4-H Beef Club. This is my 5th year in 4-H Beef and this is my steer “Twister”. Addysin Katona Hello my name is Addisyn Katona and this is my first year as a full member. I am taking just a steer this year his name is Chunky. He was my cleaver calf last year. He is red with a white head and he has white legs and two white strips across his back. He is already halter broke and he comes up to me when I go to feed him. So I leaned over on him and pet him for like 5 minutes. He is my best friend and I'm so glad I picked him to be my 4-H steer because he is probably the tamest out of all of my calves I've had in the past years . I'm excited to see what his weight is on show day. I also hope to see y'all there.
Carter Roberts Howdy Folks! My name is Carter Roberts. I'm in Grade 7 attending Caroline School. My steer is a Black Angus that goes by the name Lando Cowrisen born at Palkot farms. If you're a Star Wars fan I’m sure you know what I'm referencing! Lando is a very gentle steer. He won't hesitate to come up to you and lick you. He also loves to eat his feed. When I first got him, he wouldn't eat very much of his food. Now he can be seen waiting at the gate when it's feeding time. We’re both very excited about the Show and Sale! Hope to see you there!

CharliBrynn Katona Hi my name is Charli-Brynn Katona I am ten years old and I am in fifth grade, and it is my fifth year in 4-H. This year I am a junior and I would like to share things I have learned in my previous years of 4-H with younger members. My steers name is Jack. He is a home grown steer and he is a tan/light red Simmental cross. I am so excited to see what he looks like on show day. I am pretty confident about him because he is so super sweet and gentle .I have been giving him scratches when I go and feed him in the morning and at night. He loves scratches on his butt.I am so excited to see what show day brings and I hope to see you there.
Karmyn Mason Hey, I’m Karmyn Mason & this is my steer Gredy. He is a homegrown Gelbvieh cross Angus. This is my 3rd year being part of the Rocky North 4-H Multi Club and this year I am an intermediate. I am also in woodworking and K-9 in my club. I am 12 and attend St. Matthew Catholic School. This year my 4-H goal is to be able to gain more showmanship knowledge and hopefully have my steer weigh in at 1200 lbs or more.
Kalvin Danielson Hello everyone. I am Kalvin Danielson and this is my 3 year in 4-h, this years steer I picked based on his long frame, his big bone structure and many other factors hoping to do as best as I can this him this year. I named him Harry because of his long and thick hair. He is a Simmental/angus cross sired from a Stout brother’s bull and his dam is one of our best cows in our herd.
Amelia Roberts Howdy Folks! My name is Amelia Roberts. I’m in Gr. 9 and am attending Caroline School. This is my 3rd year in 4-H. My steer this year is an Angus-Charolais cross and he goes by the name Hugo! He started out small but soon became obsessed with our feed! It was a race for who could get to the pen first! He is a very gentle, quiet steer, but he won't hesitate to throw a fit every once in a while! We can't wait for show day! Hope to see you there!

Kole Scott Hello, my name is Kole Scott. I am 9 years old and I am a first year Junior with Rocky South 4-H Beef Club. This is my 3rd year in 4-H Beef and this is my steer “Tex”. He is a Black Angus Simmental Cross I bought from Phillip Rodney near Eckville. I purchased him when he was 2 days old after his Mom passed away. I brought him home to be raised on our nurse cow and he was my 4-H Cleaver Calf project last year. Tex and I have been together a very long time and we look forward to seeing you at our Show & Sale.

Kallie Gerdung Hello there, my name is Kallie Gerdung and this is my steer Breadbasket. Breadbasket is a Charolais/Simmental Cross that weighed in at 682 lbs. I picked BreadBasket this year, because he is a brother to my previous two steers,(I heard that they tasted really yummy and the steaks BBQ’d up perfectly) and I really love the calves that the Severs Farm, Z33 produces. I have been in 4-H for 7 years, and have enjoyed training, grooming and leading my steer around the pen. My brothers and I have had to feed them hay, grain, minerals, water, and last off is bedding for the steers. 4-H is a great activity to be a part of because I get to meet new people. Mathew Duffin Hello my name is Mathew Duffin and this is Sammy. This is my 6th year in 4-H Sammy is a Black Angus Speckle Park and enjoys eating, standing and being scratched. Some of my hobbies include skiing and snowmobiling in the winter and football and dirt biking in the summer and fall. I would like to thank BW Bouwman Plumbing for purchasing my previous steer, Joey. Ben Duffin Howdy folks! My name is Ben Duffin and this is my 8th year and 8th steer with the Rocky North club! This year my steers name is Sylvester and he’s a beautiful Black Angus. Sylvester weighed in at 614 pounds at the weigh in on October 30th and has been gaining weight nicely! Sylvester is very quiet and loves scratches and being combed. Some of Sylvesters hobbies include eating, sleeping, and running when the halter comes out! Some of my hobbies include mechanics, welding, dirt biking, snowmobiling and hunting. Levi Pals Hi my name is Levi Pals. I’m 11 years old. I have been in 4-H for 6 years . My steer is named Jim Beam. He is part of our whiskey pen at home. He is a CharolaisX and he is a homegrown steer. My steer weighed in at 754lb and the last time we weighed him in the middle of January he was 994lb. He is the first one up to the feeder when I feed them. This year I will be doing beef, swine and woodworking. I’m in the Rocky North 4-H Multi Club. I play basketball, hockey and ride steers. Graeson Mason Hi, my name is Graeson Mason. I am a 1st year Junior in the Rocky North 4-H Multi Club, I am 9 years old and love Muay Thai. My steers name is Smith. He is like a dog and follows me all over. He has been this way since he was born. He just loves people and attention. Smith is a Gelbvieh Cross Angus. Clayton Somers Hi my name is Clayton Somers I am 12 years old and I am a 1st Year intermediate and my favorite things to do is play hockey, Buy and then fix trucks up and sell them and to drive my snowmobile and my dirtbike. Levi Gerdung Hello past and future buyers, my name is Levi Gerdung and I am in the Rocky South 4-H Beef club. This year I have raised and fed a splendid Black Limousine Angus X named BLACK BEAR. Black Bear was born and raised near Elnora and had a starting weight of 726 lbs at weigh-in. I am hoping to achieve 1400 lbs or greater by Show and Sale. I am loving the challenge that the Limousin breed brings to the training process. I am a Senior in the South Club and have been a member for 7 years. My hobbies include Fishing, 4-H, Hunting, Camping, Quading and Reading. I enjoy 4-H a lot, it keeps me busy, and out of my family's hair. But most of all I enjoy working with the animals I choose every year and learn so much more with every steer that I raise.

Timory Nicolay Hi, I am Timory Nicolay and this is my steer Woody. Woody is a Simmental-Angus cross that I bought from my Grandpa. I thought he was a good-looking steer, but we're still working on being friends. At his first weigh in, he weighed 802 lbs. He likes to eat and enjoys being scratched. This is my second year in beef 4-H, and so far this has been the best year. Travis McLean Hi my name is Travis Mclean this is my second year doing beef , I have been in 4-H for three years. This is my steer Chipmunk, he is a red angus Simmental cross. I haven't worked with him too much but when I do he is pretty easy to work with after a little bit. He mostly just stays behind the barn eating in a smaller pen unless he jumps the fence. I'm sure he will make great burger.

He was born on April, 29, 2021. He was such a cute calf I knew right away that I would love to have him as a 4H project. He weighed 648lbs at the weigh-in back in October. Anita Moggy Howdy, I’m Anita Moggy, this is my first year in 4-H with my first steer! I am with the Rocky North Multi Club! My steers name is Oreo, because he looks like an Oreo, but a double stuffed Oreo. He’s handsome looking Black Angus/ Speckle Park. At the weigh in back at the end of October of 2021, he weighed 612lbs. He’s still a bit temperamental but he is coming around quite nicely! He really enjoys being brushed and getting scratches right on the brisket! Some of my hobbies include gymnastics, quading, and reading. Oreo and I hope to see y’all at the show!!

Ireland Somers Hi there! My name is Ireland Somers and I am The President of the Rocky South 4-H Beef club. I really like to public speak and one day I hope to be the Prime Minister! My Steer here is Louis-Vuitton. He was part of my 2Year old cow calf pair last year and helped me win Overall Grand champion pair! Kyra Hills Hello, my name is Kyra Hills and I’m back for my 8th year in the Rocky South 4-H Beef Club. I’m 17 and currently in grade 12. Unfortunately, this is my last steer as I am going to university in Nova Scotia next year and I’m hoping to make this year the best yet. This is my steer Jumbo (yeah I know it’s a silly name, my sister named him haha) and he was my last year 4-H cow’s replacement calf. He is a Simmental that I purchased from the Stout’s farm last winter and so far is doing great. He weighed 840lbs at October weigh-in and I cant wait to see his progress at show and sale! Hello everyone, I am Kalvin Danielson my 3rd heifer in 4-H is Brittney, she is completing my first full herd in 4-H. She is my flashiest female in my herd, she is out of our home raised blue roan and sired by a full blood bull. She is my third heifer in 4-H and I am excited to show her this spring. My 2 year old is Brandy, she is a Simmental angus cross and her calf is a Simmental angus cross sired by a STBS full blood bull. Brandy is a very nice fit into my herd with her long body, friendly temperament and her depth in through out her body. Brenda was my first heifer in 4-H and her and I have come along way since the start, she is now my 3 year old cow. This will be her 2nd calf this year. She is a Simmental Hereford cross, Brenda was the start of my own cow herd and I couldn’t have picked a better lady to start my own herd with.

Hey again! My name is Kyra Hills, I’m 17 and this is my whole herd. This is my 4th heifer named Jasmine and she is an Angus Simmental cross. She earned the name Jaz-manian devil for her spunky personality but she has been improving so much in the past couple of months. My 2-year-old Holly is a Simmental Angus cross and she is very calm and easy to work with. This year she had twin bull calves that I named Burt and Ernie. She has been a great cow so far and I can’t wait to see what’s in our future together. Unfortunately, my three-year-old, Ginger isn’t due to calve until mid-April so I cannot talk about her calf just yet. She is a beautiful full-blood Simmental with the sweetest personality. She is a nice big cow that did great with her calf last year so I’m excited to see how she does this year:)

My name is Ireland Somers and this year, I will be showing a whole heard. This is my heifer Lavender. She is a purebred papered Simmental, she is the sister to my reserve grand champion cow from last year! For my 2 year old cow calf, she hasn’t had her calf yet but she will in April. She is a Charolais and her name is Candy Cane. She is bred to a purebred registered Simmental bull. For my 3 year old cow calf pair, her name is Tiger Lilly and she will have her calf in April. It will be a Purebred papered Simmental calf. Sometimes I am kind of glad this is my last show with her because she can kind of be a handful sometimes. I am definitely looking forward to showing my first whole heard this year at the show! Hope to see you there!

Hi, my name is Jayden Warren. This heifer will be another addition to my 3rd whole herd her name is Jewel she is a commercial heifer out of a cow from our herd who has tons of milk and always brings one of the biggest calves in, come fall time. So, I thought she would be a great addition to my show string. Hellen is my 2 year old cow that one might call a big girl, but boy do I love her with her great Frame size and picture perfect udder. She has made one of the nicest thickest calves on the farm one! I purchased this heifer from Harry Satchwell out of Cremona Alberta so if you’re bored and wanna see a big framed cow with a smoking little calf come and take a look!! Hellen will be waiting! My 3 year old is a little cow one might call interesting as she not only has all the colour anyone could ask for and raises some cool thick little calves but she is saddle broke!! Ya that's what I said, she is broke to ride I guess that's just something that happens when you get bored and are doing online school, so I guess what I'm saying is if your kids are bored buy em a cow!!! If you’re bored or even your kids are come on down for a ride!!

My name is Rayne Danielson and this is Ruby, my two year old cow. She calved on Feb 27 to one cute little heifer. She was bred to a Stout Brothers Simmental bull and I am very excited to see how the both grow together.
Hi my name Charli-Brynn Katona, this is my 5th Year in 4H.This year I bred my 2 year old blue roan named Indigo, to a red roan bull and I got a solid RED calf! I was so surprised it is honestly kind of cool. He is a little bull calf and his name is Henry he is so cute and I love playing with him and giving him scratches. I am so excited to see what he looks like on show day!! I bought Indigo at a heifer sale with my grandpa from Matlock farms. I was so excited to bring her home. When we got to the barnyard ,the trailer door opened up and she could have gone to the field but luckily she walked right in the barn like she already lived there. I am so excited to show them in May, hope to see you there!
Hi my name is Korbin Katona, this is my two year old cow calf pair. They are doing very good this year and I am very excited to show them. My cow is a full blood Simmental, and her calf is a purebred Simmental. My cow’s name is Virginia Hannah, her calf’s name is Junior. He is doing really good this year he is a bull calf that I hope to sell next winter! I hope I have a good show with them.

Hi! My name is Brooklynn Ditchuk. This is my first year of 4-H. I have a heifer project this year, her name is Isabella. She is a pure bred black angus, and she will be bred to a black angus for her first calf next year. She was raised on our place and hopefully she will be a good cow.
Hi my name is Grady Kleinschroth Skoven. Atomme is my heifer for this year. She is from a Simmental dairy cross cow and Atomme is Simmental dairy angus cross. So Atommes mom is from a Simmental cow and the bull is a dairy bull and Atomme’s dad is an Angus bull.
My name is Rayne Danielson and this is my heifer Huckleberry. She is a Simmental, shorthorn, Maine cross. I picked this girl for her frame and colouring. I am impressed with her growth so far this year and can’t wait to she what she produces in the next.
Hi my name is Allie Pals, I know I said last year was my final year but we’re all full of surprises. This is my 12th year in 4-H. I only have a heifer project this year and her name is JayLo . She is a SimAngus cross born and raised on my parents ranch just outside of Caroline AB, where we run a commercial herd of around 150 head. I grew up in the agriculture industry for the most part of my life and hope to stay involved with it for the rest of my life. I am planning on going to college in the fall to take either child and youth care and/or animal health technology. I hope to see you on show day on May 28th.

Hi my name is Levi Pals I’m 11 years old I have been in 4-H for 6 years. This is my first year doing a heifer. Her name is Legacy and she is a homegrown heifer. The last time we weighed them in the middle of January she was 657lb she is a purebred Simmental. She is on barely right now and she is pretty nice and will let me pet her. I’m in the Rocky North 4-H Multi Club. I play hockey, ride steers and play basketball.

My heifers name is Jenesis, I picked that name because it means beginning and she is the start of my herd. She is a SimAngus heifer from a nice older cow and she is a decent sized heifer. I’m in the Rocky North 4-H club.
HI Everyone, I’m Haleigh a Junior member of the Rocky North 4-H Multi Club. Meet my sassy beautiful heifer Juliette. This is my first year with a Heifer project. I can’t wait to grow my herd. Learning how to feed and halter break her has been interesting. She kind of likes to do her own thing but she is also an attention seeker and has to know she is the one and only one getting pets. She is a Gelbvieh cross Angus, growing amazing and will make a great breeding heifer!
Hi my name is Clayton Somers and this is my 1st year with a female project. Her name is Frankie. She is a Simmental and she was raised on this farm and I picked her because she is the sister to my sister’s grand champion heifer and she has really nice body confirmation.
ROCKY NORTH 4-H MULTI CLUB Our club is in its 45th year of operation. Starting out in 1977 as solely a beef club, our club has now branched out and is the only multi club in the Rocky 4-H District. We offer members the chance to join and try out projects outside of a livestock focus. Although our main base project is still beef—both market steer and breeding, this year we also offer members projects in swine, K9, baking and woodworking. In the past we have also offered members project opportunities in crafts, archery, small engines and scrapbooking. This year we have 22 members including 2 Cleaver kids. Our club motto is; To Better Our Club, To Our Community, and our members are always happy to help out and volunteer at many events within our communities.

ROCKY SOUTH 4-H BEEF CLUB The Rocky South 4-H Beef Club has been in operation for 46 years. This year we have 25 market steer projects, 8 cleavers and one member doing a heifer project. For a total of 34 members. Quite a few of our members with market steer projects also have breeding female projects. These young cattlemen and cattlewomen are doing the agriculture industry proud. They are a well versed group in communication, marketing, judging and animal husbandry. From the future in agriculture we can't say thank you enough to are buyers and sponsors.
