Your business/organization can support the members by purchasing a market steer at the sale. If you are unsure of what you can do with your steer, here are a few options:
1. The 4-H clubs are ready to provide the transportation of the steers to the destination of your choice, at no extra cost. Destination must be designated on the night of the sale.
2. For your convenience, the Rocky 4-H Beef Show and Sale Committee has multiple spots booked at local abattoirs for slaughter and processing and will provide delivery of your steer to the processor.
3. There will also be a buy back program available for your purchased steer. The steer will be sent to the next local live auction sale. Please check auction reports for potential pricing. The buyback value will be the difference between the live auction sale price and the 4-H sale price. (ie) If the 4-H sale price is $3/lb on a 1200lb steer , the cost is $3600. If the sale price at a local live auction is $2.00/lbs then the buyback purchaser will receive $2400 with the auction sale, brand inspection and fees deducted from the live auction sale price.
4. You could donate it to the local food bank.
1. Terms are cash, e-transfer or cheque, payable once invoice is received. Credit card or debit can be used in person with a 4% service fee added.
2. Steers sell FOB location of Rocky 4-H Beef sale. Steers transfer ownership from seller to buyer once SOLD is announced by the auctioneer.
3. Announcements made by the auctioneer on sale day take precedence over any printed material.
4. Members and/or committee will make every effort to deliver steers to buyers preferred location after sale.
5. Steer’s insurance transfers to buyer for 30 days after the auctioneer announces SOLD

Cleaver Kids is an early introduction to 4-H Alberta through fun, hands on learning that is age appropriate for youth aged 6 to 8 years. Cleaver Kids enjoy learning about 4-H by first learning about the basic requirements and then focusing on the four areas of skills development. 4-H Clubs can be creative and design stand-alone activities that foster skills development in a progressive manner. Standalone learning activities, that are age appropriate and different than 4-H Members’ project activities, serve to prepare Cleaver Kids to transition into Junior 4-H Members and progress through the 4-H program. Keeping learning fresh at each stage helps to ensure that they remain engaged and interested. Engagement of Cleaver Kids at is about FUN, FUN, FUN and the fun requires family involvement.

Hey, I’m Timory Nicolay and I’d like to introduce you to my stunning Simmental/Angus steer named Kero. I can’t decide if he’s good or bad, but we have gone on some adventures together. For example, the first day he kicked me. Thankfully though, he didn’t hurt me. He also likes to play games with me, like ‘Yeah, Right, Try and Halter Me’ and ‘Cop and Runner’ (in which I'm always the cop.) Besides his attitude, he’s a good steer who enjoys his daily feed of 4-H ration, barley and pellets. From the beginning he was a big calf weighing in at the October Weigh-In at 714 lbs. He’s a good-looking calf featuring a nice shiny black coat. I hope this was enough to convince you to come and meet him at our show and sale on May 25, 2023, and maybe place a bid. If not on him then maybe on one of the other great steers our clubs have on offer!

Hi everyone, I’m Graeson Mason, this is my 2nd year as a Junior 4-H member. I have spent countless hours trying to figure out how this steer has managed to outsmart a halter. He loves to run me around the pen almost like a good game of cat and mouse. All jokes aside he sure is growing nice, he weighed in at 740 lbs and I’m sure I can get him to 1300 lbs. I live on a commercial cow-calf ranch in Chedderville AB and my brother and I are using our purebred herd to have home-grown Charolais bulls for our family’s cowcalf operation. This will be my first year showing a heifer, but I have shown steers before.
Hello, my name is Charli-Brynn Katona. This is my 6th year in 4-H. I am 11 years old and in grade 6. My heifer’s name this year is Karen. I am super excited to show her, she is my second female project. She is a little red Simmental heifer! I picked her because she is built nicely, and overall has a great frame. She also has a very good temper. I hope to see you at show and sale!
Hi, my name is Darcie Rutt. This is my 6th year in 4-H, and Mabel is my last heifer project I’ll be doing! I chose her out of the Stewart’s herd in the fall because she has a great build and I think she will be a gorgeous cow! I work as a full-time ranch hand, and spend my time working with cattle and horses.
Hi, my name is Grady Skoven this is my third year in 4-H. My heifer Amy was originally a bottle baby but was grafted on a cow who had lost her calf. Amy is a Fleckvieh angus cross. I’ve been feeding her 4H ration and oats and she's gained well on it. I’m excited to see how she does in the ring.
Hi, my name is Irelynn Godlonton and this is my heifer Bonnie. She is a Black Angus with a white face. She is an April born calf and has a good personality. This is my fourth year in 4-H and my first year with a heifer project.
Hello again! Ben Duffin here but this time with my heifer project Faith. She is the 5th heifer project I’ve had and she has some sass to her. She weighed 656 pounds at weigh in and has been growing great since then. She is an Angus/Simental cross and is very tame. Hoping to see many calves from her in the future! See you at the show!!
Hi, Haleigh Mason here. This is my first year as an Intermediate and 4th year in 4-H. Juliette is my 2 year old cow. She is an Angus X Gelbvieh and was bred to a purebred Gelbvieh Bull. She calved a big black bull calf January 5th. She has been an amazing mother with and even better temperament. Hunter is growing like a bad weed and is full of spunk. I can’t wait to show her and her baby in the ring to you all. In addition to my 2 year old I also have here my Heifer Kryptonite, she is coming a long alright. She will also be bred to a purebred Gelbvieh bull. I am really hoping to be able to have her ready for show.
Good day everyone, it’s me Allie again. I’m going to tell you a little bit about my 2 year old cow/calf pair and my yearling heifer. Jaylo aka JJ or just Jay is my 2 year old and she is a SimAngus cross born and raised on my parents ranch just outside of Caroline AB. ANJOU KARINE 212K aka Karine is my yearling heifer, she is a purebred Charolais born January 17th, 2022 on the Valanjou Charolais Ranch in Clyde, AB. Her sire is SCR TRIUMPH 2135 and her dam is ANJOU COSETTE 501C. I hope to see you at out heifer show May 28th, 2023 at the Kurt Browning in Caroline AB
Hi, my name is Clayton Somers, and I am 13 years old, and this is my yearling heifer Blue. She is a registered purebred Simmental. She is a quiet heifer with a nice build. This will be her second year in 4-H. This is also my 2 year old cow calf pair. Her name is Frankie, and she was my heifer last year. She is a purebred Simmental and is going to calve in March or April.
Hello, I am Kalvin Danielson and this is my heifer Barbara, she is a Simmental/angus cross and is a beautiful addition to my herd, she has a long body, good overall depth and great Simmental colour, she was my pick of the heifer calves since the day she was born. My 2 year old cow Brittney, she has quite the difference of colour for my herd being a Simmental shorthorn cross, but none the less she fits right into my herd with her excellent build, good genetics, and looking forward to her future in my herd. My 3 year old cow Brandy, she is one of my favourites in my herd and we have done great in previous years showing. She is a Simmental/angus cross and is a great representation of my herd I am building over the years.
Hi my name is Rayne Danielson and this is my three year old cow Ruby, she calved this year on February 22 and threw a painted up heifer calf that is out of a full blood Simmental. I’m excited to see the work this cow puts into her calf’s and watch her grow. My two year old cow, Huckleberry. She was bred to a full blood Simmental bull and she blew me away with a blue roan heifer calf that looks just like her and I can’t wait to see how the colour sticks as she grows. This year I named my heifer June, she is a Simmental, Angus cross and I choose her for the matching frame to complete my whole herd this year. I can’t wait to see what she brings as she grows and matures.
Hi there! I am Ireland Somers, and this is my heifer Teal. She is a purebred, Simmental heifer, and let me tell you she is pretty darn nice to look at. I am very excited to show her at the show and to keep her for more years to come in to see what she brings to this world. I’ve been showing these animals for around 10 years, and it just never gets old. Teal is one great gal! Although she does like to take control of the barn and she likes to eat a lot of green. She is one pretty heifer. Teal and I are really looking forward to seeing you all at the heifer show! And I’m sure you recognize this pretty lady, Lavender. Lavender as you know is my two-year-old project this year. Lavender is probably my favourite animal. She is a purebred Simmental, and she is papered!! I have shown her last year and she does have some attitude to her. She is one great gal. Plus, I also won. Overall Grand Champion Yearling Heifer with her last year. I am so excited to show her and her amazing calf at the show this year and to see what awards they might bring. Hopefully this time she doesn’t have a big attitude, but I guess with a heifer you’ll never know. Lavender and I would like to invite you to join us at the female show this year on May 28 and we are looking forward to seeing you there! And I’m sure you may also recognize this beautiful hunk of a cow Candy Kane. Candy Kane is a purebred Simmental cow, and she is a pretty darn nice one. Although she is my three year old cow/calf project, It is kind of sad that I’ve spent most of my time with her and this is her last year in my whole herd for 4-H but I am hoping that she is going to go out with a bang! I’m really excited for the calf she’s gonna bring. She adds a little sparkle to my herd, and I really enjoyed that. She is a great mother every year. She is one of my favourite animals to show. Whenever I go outside, she is probably one of the easiest cows to pick out of the herd and talk to and give her a little pet here and there. I am so excited to show her at our show on May 28. Candy Kane and I hope to see you there!
Hi my name is Jayden Warren and this is my whole herd project. Here is my home raised fullblood Simmental heifer JBar Karma 21K, I showed her momma all through 4-H and I am super excited to see what I will be able to accomplish with her! She has lots riding on her and I feel she will fulfill the footsteps her dam has left on my herd and show career! This is my 2 year old pair and let me tell you Chipa is performing well in my herd with her January heifer at side that has been exceeding expectations since birth! I am very excited to see how big and fancy this little heifer will become show day! I know this is a female that will help improve my herd with the way her first calf is already looking! We would love if you came to take a look at the tremendous job Chipa is doing. This is a big broody female that will be my 3 year old pair this year Hellen raised an amazing bull calf last year as a first calf heifer and I am stoked to see what will come of her bull calf at side with her large frame and tremendous udder with lots of milk! Hellen is a cow that can raise calves with lots of power to add to your herd! This is her last year she will be showed and I'm excited to see what she will accomplish.
