Getting Started

You’ve come to the right place. Now you just have to get started. Our simple application procedures help take the complexity out of the admission process.

First, before you begin your application, reach out to receive an application fee waiver at admissions@pennwest.edu. We are happy to help you save a few bucks. Then, you can start your application at PennWest.edu/apply. One great benefit is that we offer a rolling deadline for admission. This means you do not wait until a certain date to apply and be notified of your admission to one of our campuses. Note that some programs may have specific deadline requirements, and it’s best to check with Admissions to be certain.

Once you’ve submitted your application, you will need to request your official college transcripts be sent by email to admissions@pennwest.edu or by mail to: Office of Admissions, 250 University Avenue, California, PA 15419. A 2.0 GPA is required to transfer to PennWest, but certain programs may have greater requirements. You may also need to submit high school transcripts or GED equivalency if you have fewer than 12 transferrable credits, or for certain majors (i.e. nursing).

After you’re admitted, we take a close look at your current credit situation with an evaluation by our Transfer Admissions experts which will help you understand how quickly you will complete your degree with us.

Course Delivery

We deliver our courses in three ways:

An In-Person degree emphasizes traditional courses at one or more of our locations.

A Blended degree combines traditional in-person courses with flexible, online educational experiences.

An Online degree is offered 100% online.

Any combination of these delivery systems can help you to finish your degree, but including the online component may help you finish your degree faster by giving you the flexibility and the classes you need when you need them.

Commuter Student?

If you plan to finish your degree by commuting to your chosen campus, it’s important to know that you have access to the same services and support systems as students who live on campus.

Each campus has spaces where you can complete class work or online classes. Whether it’s in our state-of-the-art libraries (library.pennwest.edu/home) or in one of the many lounge spaces on each campus, you’ll have places to get connected to the campus and your fellow students.

Transfer Scholarships

Each year, we award $18 million in scholarships to our students. Admitted transfer students will be reviewed for scholarship consideration based upon academic performance from previous college coursework. PennWest awards thousands of dollars to transfer students every year. You’ll want to be one of them.

Your eligibility for transfer scholarships will be determined by filling out the application for admission and review of your college transcripts. Additional university foundation and departmental scholarships are available, too, and incoming transfer students can apply through the General Scholarship Application (available spring 2024).

Your eligibility for grants and loans will be determined when you file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (commonly known as the FAFSA).

Campus student employment opportunities also are available. Our students tend to find employment opportunities in the shops, businesses and restaurants near their chosen campus.
