Academics

Getting the classes you need won’t be a problem here. In fact, you’ll have the option to take classes across three campuses!

Our more than 100 programs are housed in three colleges including the College of Education, Arts and Humanities; the College of Health Sciences and Human Services; and the College of Science, Technology and Business.

As a first-year student, your classes will be predominately delivered in a face-to-face format. As you continue your college career, you’ll be able to schedule classes that suit your requirements, needs and life!

We deliver our courses in three ways:

An In-Person degree emphasizes traditional courses at one or more of our locations.

A Blended degree combines traditional in-person courses with flexible, online educational experiences.

An Online degree is offered 100% online.

VIEW PROGRAMS

PennWest California is located just 35 miles from Pittsburgh, on a beautiful riverside campus that includes top recreation facilities, best-in-class housing options, green space and modern science classrooms and labs that accommodate our high-tech majors like mechatronics engineering technology and our vet tech programs. You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in more than 100 student clubs and organizations, as well as intramural programs, and club and athletics teams. Cal’s mascot, Blaze the Vulcan, is the biggest Vulcan sports fan, but he’s also present at all other types of Cal events throughout the year. Our dynamic housing options offer you independence, convenience and comfort in spacious residence halls or apartments.

PennWest Clarion is close to Cook Forest but also conveniently located right in the middle of Clarion’s charming college town with its cozy Main Street atmosphere. The stunning campus features state-ofthe-art learning facilities like our nursing simulation laboratory and our hands-on communication studios for TV, radio and print media experiences. Choose from more than 150 student organizations, as well as intramural programs, and club and athletics teams. Ernie the Eagle is Clarion’s Golden Eagle mascot. He struts his stuff at Clarion sporting events as he prides himself on being the biggest Golden Eagles sports fan. Our scenic campus offers a variety of housing options including suitestyle housing, apartments and traditional residence halls.

PennWest Clarion also has locations in Venango and Somerset counties. Venango specializes in associate degrees, as well as career and workforce education and programming. Somerset offers the two-year Associate of Science in Nursing, which fully prepares students to sit for the RN licensure exam.

PennWest Edinboro is situated just south of Erie, in a bustling college town that embraces its culture and location. The picturesque lakeside campus offers modern learning facilities, and incredible outdoor recreation opportunities for every season. Much like the town, some of The Boro’s most popular majors are focused on the arts like animation, illustration, drawing and painting. There are more than 140 student clubs and organizations, as well as intramural programs, and club and athletics teams. Clad with a Royal Stewart Tartan kilt and headband, steadfast shield and leather wrist guards and boots, our mascot, MacCato, is the embodiment of the Fighting Scots. Live on campus in our sophisticated suite-style housing which will give you greater access to a town that embraces its culture.

We’ve made applying to PennWest easy. Decisions are based on a combination of:

• Official high school transcripts

• SAT/ACT scores (optional)*

• Recommendations (optional)*

We operate under rolling admissions. Once your application is complete, you’ll quickly receive a decision on your application for admission.

Worried about how you’ll pay for school? Our Financial Aid team is here to help make your educational goals a reality. Our counselors explore every avenue of student funding including scholarships, grants, loans and student employment to ensure you have the most comprehensive aid package possible. You’ll be happy to know that:

• Each year, we award $18 million in scholarships to our students

• 90% of our students receive financial aid

• 78% of students receive some type of need-based aid
