Scholarship Opportunities
BETTER FOR YOU
PennWest is working to give talented students like you the boost they need to fund their education. One way we do this is by offering scholarships.
Scholarships are funds awarded based on your academic performance or other criteria. The best news? Scholarships do not need to be repaid!
In addition to being considered for our merit awards at the time of admission, your eligibility for most scholarships will be determined by filling out one scholarship application when you officially become a student. Each year, we award $19 million in scholarships to our students. PennWest University offers a variety of scholarships including:
• Academic
• Athletics
• Housing
• Honors
• Transfer
BETTER FOR YOUR WALLET
PennWest developed the following scholarships for first-year students.
The PennWest Premier Scholarship ranges from $2,000 to $4,000 up to four years with a value of $8,000 to $16,000. Entering transfer scholarships range from $1,500 to $2,000.
The PennWest Opportunity Award is worth $1,000 per year and renewable for a total value of $4,000.
The Non-Resident University Housing Scholarship is for nonPennsylvania residents (first-year, international, and transfer students), worth $3,000 per year for up to two consecutive years.
The Honors College Award Scholarship is a one-time $1,000 scholarship for those who are admitted and have accepted their seat in the Honors Program.
A variety of other criteria also apply for these scholarships such as maintaining high academic standing and minimum credit hours.
EVEN BETTER
PennWest also offers endowed scholarships made possible by generous alumni and friends who want you to succeed.
You can apply through the General Scholarship Application to be considered for these awards. The application is open from the beginning of February until the end of March. Each scholarship has its own selection criteria and award amounts, and availability can vary from year to year.
Don’t forget!
While there are numerous scholarships available, you are strongly encouraged to apply for federal aid through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (commonly known as the FAFSA).
