FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Throughout our history, Clarion has had many names. Beginning in 1867 as Carrier Seminary of Western Pennsylvania, Clarion has evolved to meet changing times and workforce needs, becoming Clarion State Normal School, Clarion State Teachers College, Clarion State College, Clarion University, and now, PennWest Clarion.

While we embrace and support the integration that formed PennWest, we remain Clarion University Foundation, Inc., and we remain committed to our Clarion campus, its students and alumni, and the intent of our faithful donors.

Your giving has not only promoted academic success, but it has also provided life-sustaining support. Because of your generosity, last year our Foundation provided over $1.3 million in scholarship support to 861 Clarion students. In addition to scholarships – and since its inception more than two years ago during the pandemic – our Student Emergency Fund has raised over $91,000 and has expended over $74,000 in direct support to meet the food, rent and other needs of hundreds of students during extenuating life events. Thank you!

Although this has been a challenging year for the economy and markets, our long-standing investment and spending policies provide a predictable stream of funding to programs and scholarships supported by the endowment. Over the long term, this strategy will allow the endowment to continue to grow.

With focus on the future, and our Clarion, may we continue to fly high!

Sincerely grateful,

Clarion University Foundation, Inc.
