Pennsylvania Western University has taken a modern approach to education.
Our campuses at California, Clarion and Edinboro have combined resources, in-demand programs, expert professors and extracurricular activities to reinforce not only your learning, but who you are as a person.
What’s more is PennWest fits into your life and gives you an education you can’t get anywhere else.
PennWest is Better Together and Better for You.
Getting the classes you need won’t be a problem here.
When you arrive on campus, your schedule will be prepared for you which ensures you get the best start. You’ll have mostly traditional face-to-face classes in your first year, which will help you get to know your chosen campus and other students who will share in this unique college experience.
Our more than 100 programs are housed in three colleges including the College of Education, Arts and Humanities; the College of Health Sciences and Human Services; and the College of Science, Technology and Business.
First-year classes are predominately delivered in a face-toface format. However, you may have some online classes.
As you continue your college career, you’ll be able to schedule classes that suit your requirements, needs and schedule.
We deliver our courses in three ways:
In-Person – This one’s pretty easy. Students learn directly from their professor in a classroom setting on their campus.
Online – Again, not too complicated. The content for an online class is loaded into our learning management system where you select classes (aka D2L), then you move through the class at your pace. You may occasionally hear this called asynchronous learning, but the gist is: learn on your time and your schedule, wherever you are.
Blended – Here’s where you can connect to other campuses. These classes are delivered in the classroom from a selected campus. However, students still can Zoom in from another campus to take the class. This is sometimes called synchronous learning –meaning if you are Zooming into the class, you’ll need to follow the class schedule.
