YOUR COMMUNITYCreativity Getting creative can be great for our mental health and through recent times its clear how important our wellbeing is. Our extra care scheme Hafan Gwydir have formed a community art group and turned being creative into a social event. Our scheme is an independent living complex with extra care, based in a rural setting in the Conwy Valley, not far from beautiful Betws y Coed.

Barbra Lewis from Hafan Gwydir shares insight on the art group

“The Art group is a mixture of tenants from Hafan Gwydir and local people who have met under the tuition of Mr John Ross. Mr Ross a fellow tenant and gifted local artist has given instruction mainly through the medium of watercolour but has also encouraged people to explore their own creativity. Before the pandemic we met every Wednesday afternoon and held an exhibition of our work at the scheme. We were lucky enough to be asked to contribute toward an entry in the Eisteddfod. ClwydAlyn have recently helped us with a grant to buy art materials. The standard of the work from our small group is amazing and includes efforts from people of all capabilities who just enjoy meeting up.”
