2. My Stratus ftServer system is still going strong; why should I change?

There are several reasons to consider refreshing your Stratus ftServer systems: • New software applications require additional memory, storage, I/O technologies, or other features to maintain peak performance • You want to leverage newer technologies, such as higher performing processors and faster memory, as well as the latest operating systems, to support increasing demands from applications • Long capital budgeting cycles require planning in advance to ensure your mission-critical applications run at peak performance 3. Can I re-use my current Stratus ftServer for another solution?

Yes. As part of the refresh process, Penguin Solutions offers a program where you may choose to deploy your current Stratus ftServer systems in support of non-business-critical applications and receive special service pricing.

4. I have both Stratus and non-Stratus server infrastructure. Can I upgrade my non-Stratus equipment to a Stratus ftServer platform?

A tech refresh is a good time to migrate critical applications to Stratus platforms. With the added performance you get from a Penguin Solutions Tech Refresh, you can use virtualization to move critical applications from non-Stratus platforms to your new Stratus ztC Endurance platform, streamlining system management and reducing costs in the process.

5. What other issues should I consider during a tech refresh?

6. Will there be any downtime during a tech refresh?

Planned downtime for transitioning from the current systems to the new system can vary and most often depends on your schedule. With the Penguin Solutions Jumpstart Installation and Training Service, your Stratus ztC Endurance system can be installed in as little as a few hours, with two to four hours of training to follow. In many cases, you or your system integrator can load applications and migrate data from the current system to the Stratus ztC Endurance platform, and potentially complete it in as few as two to three hours.

During a tech refresh, Penguin Solutions Service offers a no-cost migration period of up to 90 days enabling you to transition from the current system to the new Stratus ztC Endurance system before the start of the new support contract.

This option provides added flexibility and reduces downtime, allowing you to continue using your current system until your new Stratus ztC Endurance server is ready to go into production.
