Early Childhood Summer Programs at Pembroke Hill provide a warm, developmentally appropriate summer experience designed for our youngest learners. While rooted in the Reggio Emilia philosophy that guides our school-year approach, the summer program offers a more flexible, exploration-based setting where children learn through play, curiosity, and hands-on discovery.
In addition to camp themes and daily fun, our teachers are intentional about supporting the “little big skills” that help children thrive in group settings—taking turns, joining play, using kind words, and trying again when something feels tricky. We gently coach children through social moments as they happen so students feel safe, included, and confident as they build friendships across the summer.
Students participate in two-week sessions that provide consistent routines and opportunities to build meaningful connections with teachers and peers. Each session includes engaging activities, outdoor play, and experiences that support social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth throughout the summer. Because Summer at Pembroke Hill spans nine weeks, the final week is offered as a one-week session,
Early Years: Enrollment limited to incoming Pembroke Hill School Early Years students enrolled for the 202627 school year. Preschool: This program is open to all 3-year-olds (by July 1), including children who are not currently enrolled at Pembroke Hill School. Prekindergarten: This program is open to all 4-year-olds (by July 1), including children who are not currently enrolled at Pembroke Hill School.

Each themed week weaves in a touch of Kansas City spirit—through music, stories, games, and imagination—so campers can experience the fun of KC summer without ever leaving the Hill.
