If a fertility problem occurs that is confirmed by a veterinarian, the buyer must return the bull to the seller in good health and have a minimum of at least 1# ADG since purchase for guarantee to apply for an exchange for an equal-quality bull, or for credit towards another purchase. In no case will the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. Severance Angus will make every effort to make sure that you, our customer, is fully satisfied with the bull(s). This is not a life insurance policy. We will not replace a dead animal if it dies for any reason. Full mortality insurance can be purchased sale day.

HEALTH: Bulls have been treated with Bovi-Shield Gold, One Shot, 7-Way and Dectomax. Health certificates will be provided for each sale lot.

TRUCKING & FEEDING ARRANGEMENTS: Severance Angus will assist in making economical trucking arrangements. Bring your own trailer on sale day and take $50 per head off of the purchase price. WELCOME Dear Cattlemen and Friends, Welcome to the 31st Purebred Sale that we have had at Kist Livestock Auction. I honestly believe this is the best, the strongest, and the deepest quality set of bulls we have ever brought to town! Our amazing mother cows did their job under some of the most adverse conditions ever this past year. They did it with no help from a creep feeder as there were none. Our cows have been bred to be great producers and they did just that!

We are selling a powerful, uniform, eye appealing set of outstanding Angus bulls.

They are sired by several top sires of the Angus breed. The selection is large, ranging from powerful herd sires to excellent calving ease bulls that would make outstanding replacement heifers. I am excited about this set of bulls like no other. I know our cow herd and they are an outstanding set of mother cows that earn their keep on each and every calf they produce. They all earned their way into this sale, not by their age, nor their pedigree, but by one tool that all cattlemen use to measure success – a scale! Please take a look and come to the sale as our bulls are a genetic value that sell into any price range.

The buyers of our Charolais herd, the Zehnder-Waage partnership have a very successful sale of their own in Minnesota and have done very well with our cows. However, they wanted to focus on just one bull sale so they will not be bringing any bulls this year. We wish them all the best and I am sure they will be in contact with you about your Charolais bull needs.

2022 will mark 47 years for Sally and I in the purebred business. My body is telling me it’s time to slow down some.

We made the difficult decision to sell off some of our Angus cows and bred heifers. Never an easy choice as we live with them 7 days a week most of the year. This will be our last bull sale. We may keep a small group of cows as a hobby and sell bulls off the place as we do each spring. I will leave that up to the guidance of the Good Lord! I want to thank every cattle person we have met and done business with as well as the great people that have helped us with the production of our bull sales. I want to thank my family for helping build the herds and the ranch! The biggest thank you goes to the best life partner I could have ever dreamed of having ... that is Sally! She made dreams come true!

It would mean the world to Sally and I to have you join us on February 4th. We have always put a 100% into everything we do, and we would like to finish this race strong!

Let me leave you with a couple things that have influenced my life. On a cold February night in 2007, a Charolais cow put me in the hospital for 40 days. I died. Only by the grace of God did I come back down to my body. There is life for us beyond this life!

Lot 1 is a true herd-building bull. His sire brings so much to this mating, with two of the best Angus cows in the world in his pedigree, the Madame Pride 0075 cow and the Blackcap May 4136. Both cows have millions of dollars of proof of success. Both cows are deceased.

The bottom side of this bull has a success story of its own in our herd too. The Lucy cow family came to us through the Ellingson Angus family. This cow family is the largest in total numbers in our herd and is also highly productive. The dam of lot 1 is sired by the highest indexing bull of the Schaff 2014 bull calf crop. SAV Index 4042 had lots of performance, depth of body, eye appeal, great disposition and left many top producing daughters in our herd. The maternal granddam of lot 1 just left this fall. 0863 was a beautiful cow in all ways.

She raised the high-selling bull in our sale last year at $14,000. All our Lucy females are great producers and are very quiet cows. The lot 1 bull is powerful with tremendous depth in the rib and carries a well-muscled hind quarter. The All American 6063 bull is one bull you can build an Angus herd on knowing you are going to put the best females you can into your herd.

Lot 2 is an outstanding bull in every way. This America son has been a standout since he was born. And still today I wonder if he might be the one. Lot 2 has exceptional length and massive makeup to him. His dam is a member of the Blackcap cow family that we purchased from Chad Ellingson years ago. The Blackcap 232 cow produced many picture-perfect cows for us. Some of my favorite cows that built our Angus herd were sired by Sitz Alliance 6595. They were thick-made, good milking cows that added so much to their calves. The Blackcap 1232 cow is one of the best, sired by Sitz Alliance. I would not hesitate to turn this America son out with our purebred cows and continue the herd building. I know it will work!

Last year’s sale, 6863 had an outstanding bull that sold to Jacob Estvold. This lot 7 bull is really nicely made and will look super when he matures. The only problem is when I checked pastures all summer, 6863 would let her calf and two other free-loaders nurse her as well. She would just stand there and chew her cud. So the quality and performance is there, better than the 205-day wt. reads. You will not be disappointed with owning this bull!

His offspring are unbelievably attractive.

Lot 8 is the first of the Bubs Southern Charm sons in the catalog. This is the last calf from the great cow 0863. Last year she produced our high selling bull for $14,000 going to Stacy Abrahamson. The Southern Charms are thick made, well balanced, good footed cattle with a lot to offer. The dam of this lot is an own daughter of the legendary Sitz Upward 307, who is the sire of many great cows and bulls. Tremendous replacement value here!
