FITNESS & WELLNESS CLASSES

Registration opens online or in-person one week prior to each class. Space is limited. Classes take place at Pelham Recreation Center & are Free for members or $5/class drop-in. Classes are for 14 & Up unless otherwise specified

Barre Sept 2 - Dec 16

Tuesday 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Friday 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

This low impact, energizing workout helps you create long, lean, powerful muscles & increase your flexibility. Classes include use of the ballet barre, hand weights, resistance bands & exercise balls. Exercises typically focus on small, pulsing movements with emphasis on form, alignment & core engagement. Please bring your own yoga mat. All fitness levels are welcome & encouraged!

Body Sculpt Sept 6 - Dec 20

Saturday 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

This low impact workout helps define your entire body with an emphasis on the shoulders, arms, core & glutes. Please bring your own yoga mat. All fitness levels welcome & encouraged!

Boot Camp Sept 3 - Dec 17

Wednesday 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

45-55 minute High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). You will use your entire body as you emphasize stretching, cardio, weights & floor work at all fitness levels. Please bring water & a hand towel.

In-Trinity Warrior 1 Sept 3 - Dec 17

Wednesday 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

This class increases your flexibility & lean muscle mass, builds a stronger heart & relieves body aches & pains. You will move through traditional yoga stretches & martial arts agility sequences while elevated on a unique fitness board. Appropriate for all fitness levels. Please bring your own yoga mat.

Pilates Sept 8 - Dec 15

Monday 7:15 a.m. – 8:15 a.m.

Pilates is a low impact class focused on mind-body exercises with an emphasis on core stability, strength & flexibility. Exercises involve the whole body using slow & controlled movements to work the core stabilizing muscles of the body.

Power Sculpt Sept 4 - Dec 18

Thursday 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

This class will BUILD strong & lean muscles while incorporating “POWER” moves to help boost metabolism. Incorporates hand weights, balls & resistance bands. Come ready to feel the BURN & POWER UP your fitness.

Rev + Flow Sept 2 - Dec 18

Tuesday 8:45 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.

Thursday 8:45 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.

This high intensity-low impact class is designed to improve your balance, flexibility & muscle tone. No running, jumping & pounding of joints is involved. Come enjoy fitness moves & floor exercises, with or without weights. Please bring your own mat.

Renew Active Exercise Sept 3 - Dec 17

Wednesday 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Age: 65 & Up

This class is designed to help senior adults increase muscle strength, broaden range of motion & improve activities for daily living. A chair is used for seated exercises & standing support. The class may be modified depending on fitness level.

Renew Active Yoga Sept 2 - Dec 16

Tuesday 10:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

Age: 65 & Up

This class will move your whole body through a complete series of seated & standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance & range of motion. Restorative breathing exercises & final relaxation will promote stress reduction & mental clarity.

Yoga Sept 8 - Dec 15

Monday 5:30 p.m. – 6:45p.m.

This readily accessible vinyasa flow class mixes the power of physical yoga postures (asanas), deep breathing & mindfulness to take you on a journey to open your heart, quiet your mind & renew your spirit. All fitness levels are welcome. Please bring your own yoga mat.

Zumba Sept 6 - Dec 20

Saturday 7:30 a.m. - 8:15 a.m.

Zumba® is an interval-style dance fitness party that combines low-intensity & high-intensity moves. You’ll burn lots of calories as you move to the rhythm with Latin-inspired dance moves. The best part is that it doesn’t even feel like exercise! Please bring water.

YOUTH SPORTS

Youth Soccer Fall Clinic (Co-ed)

Cost: $10/clinic Age: 5-12 years old

Day: Tuesday September 30

Time 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Location: TBD

Interested in learning more about soccer or building skills for the spring season? This clinic offers training for new and experienced players focusing on learning skills, drills and the fundamentals of soccer. All equipment is provided and all skill levels are welcome. Clinics will be run in partnership with the Pelham High School soccer coaches and players.

Boys Youth Basketball Nov - Mid Feb

Cost: $145 Age: Entering Grades 3 - 6

Location: Multiple Gyms

Times: Weekdays either 5:30, 6:30 or 7:30 p.m.

Games and practices will be held during the week against teams from Alabaster, Calera, Helena and Montevallo. Evaluations will be held in late October.

Girls Youth Basketball Nov - Mid Feb

Cost: $145 Age: Entering Grades 3 - 6

Location: Multiple Gyms

Times: Saturday mornings or afternoons

Practices will be held during the week at the Pelham Recreation Center. Games will be played on Saturdays in various locations. Player evaluations will be completed in late October.

Cost U6-U8 $100; 3rd-6th Grade $110

T-ball is the perfect introduction to baseball and softball for young players. Our instructional program, partnered with the Start Smart Development Program, helps children develop the primary skills of hitting, running, fielding and throwing in a fun and active environment. Players begin to learn the basic rules of the game while also building self-esteem and learning sportsmanship & teamwork. Please purchase a metal T-ball bat and batting helmet that will be needed when games start. Players will be provided with an additional Start Smart kit that includes a non-metal bat, 2 Koosh balls, and a fielding glove to help provide safer equipment in the early stage of skill development. Games and practices will be held during the week against teams from Pelham only.

Become a Coach!

Age: 4–7; Grades 3-6 The player’s age/grade as of January 1, 2026 determines the placement of the player in the age division.

We will offer co-ed soccer to boys and girls ages 4-7.

Age divisions: U6 (age 4 & 5) | U8 (age 6 & 7) | 3rd Grade - 6th

Grade (Boys and Girls)

3rd-6th grade will be separated into boys and girls teams. All teams have potential to be co-ed depending on registration numbers. Practices will be held during the week with games played during the week or on Saturdays against teams from surrounding communities. Note: ALL age groups may be combined, if necessary. Some players may play up!

Want to Get Involved with Pelham Youth Athletics?

If you would like to become a volunteer Youth Sports Coach with Pelham Parks and Recreation, please visit www.pelhamalparksandrec.com, sign in or create and account, and submit a Coach Application. You will receive a follow up email from the Athletics Department with next steps. Up-to-date documentation, including a background check and a Coach Safely certificate of completion from ARPA, is required BEFORE being allowed to coach on-field.

NOTE: Completing registration and submitting documents does not guarantee you a coaching position, but all coaching volunteers must complete registration for eligibility. Contact the Athletic Department for more info.

We know Santa’s helpers might need a little more time helping Santa get ready for his busy night. Drop the kids off and enjoy a night out while the Pelham Parks and Rec staff entertains the good boys and girls with games, arts and crafts, e-sports and more. Dinner will be provided. Parents will need to check their child in and out of the program.!

Youth E-sports Tournament Night

Location: Pelham Rec Center MP Room Friday nights for tweens! E-Sports game night offered every other month. Each night will focus on a specific game. Games: Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Mario Kart 8, Nintendo Switch Sports, Madden, NCAA CFB, and more! Pizza and drinks will be provided

Neighborhood Bowling League Sept 9 - Oct 28

Stop by after work and enjoy this exciting sport. You are encouraged to bring your own equipment. ALL participants must be pre-registered to play. The neighborhood bowling league is a fun and friendly non-competitive, non-sanctioned league open to Pelham neighborhoods only. This 8-week league features neighborhoods competing against each other while spending time with your family and neighbors and making new friends! Neighborhoods are responsible for forming their own team. Registration Open Thru September 9

Indoor Pickleball Oct 1 – Dec 19(session I) Jan 2 – March 30 (session II)

Duplicate Bridge

Duplicate Bridge is a designated group of 12-16 players. You will be able to compare your score with others on a more competitive basis. Call the Senior Center for additional information.

Playing cards is good for our mental health & a great way to meet new friends. Hand & Foot is a popular variation from the rummy type game of Canasta & can be played with any number of players either individually or as partners. It’s easy to learn so just show up & enjoy a fun day of cards with new friends.

Men’s Breakfast Club

Christmas Dance

Fitness Forward

Day: Mondays Dates: Sept 1 - Dec 29

Cost: $2/class Time: 10:30 a.m. - 11:20 a.m.

Age: 55+ Location: Pelham Senior Center

Move through a variety of exercises designed to improve overall quality of life. You will increase muscular strength, range of motion & functional fitness & balance. A variety of equipment will be used to offer resistance (hand-held weights & elastic tubing) as well as other techniques to strengthen the body. (balance, core strength, aerobic conditioning & stretching), Register in person on the day of the class.

Cardio Drumming

Day: Mondays Dates: Sept 1 - Dec 29

Cost: $2/class Time: 11:30 a.m. - 12:15p.m.

Age: 55+ Location: Pelham Senior Center

Cardio Drumming is a fun and simple exercise that activates many muscles with drumming movements. You don’t need to be a drummer to do it, but you do use drumsticks to play on an exercise ball. Space limited.

Line Dancing (Intermediate)

Day: Tuesday Dates: Sept 2 - Dec 30

Cost: $2/class Time: 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Age: 55+ Location: Pelham Senior Center

This class is for you if you have been dancing for some time & have mastered complicated steps & upper body movements. Routines are 32 count, 48 count or 64 count. Music will be faster with multiple restarts & tags. The step combinations are less repetitive & have more variety. Intermediate dances offer varying degrees of challenge. Soft soled & closed toe shoes required. Space limited.

Line Dancing (Improver)

Day: Tuesday Dates: Sept 2 - Dec 30

Cost: $2/class Time: 11:45 am – 12:45 p.m.

Age: 55+ Location: Pelham Senior Center

This class is for you if you are an experienced beginner (between beginner & intermediate) & have mastered more complex steps & count changes with syncopation. Routines are 32 count, 48 count or 64 count. Dances are set to music & may include turns, multiple tags & secondary upper body movements. Soft soled & closed toe shoes required. Space limited.

Line Dancing (Beginner)

Cost: $2/class Time: 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

This class is for you if you have always wanted to learn to line dance. Basic line dance steps are broken down & put to music. Soft soled & closed toe shoes required. Space limited. Register in person on the day of the class.

Zumba Gold

Day: Wednesday Dates: Sept 3 - Dec 31

Cost: $2/class Time: 10:45 am - 11:45 am

Age: 55+ Location: Pelham Senior Center

Zumba Gold is a low-intensity cardio class. The choreography focuses on balance, range of motion & coordination. Come ready to sweat & prepare to leave empowered & feeling strong. Register in person on the day of the class.

Gentle Yoga

Day: Wednesday Dates: Sept 3 - Dec 31

Cost: $2/class Time: 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Age: 55 & Up Location: Pelham Senior Center

This class will help you decrease stress, tone muscle & build strength while improving posture, circulation, & concentration. All standing & floor poses can be modified to perform in a chair. Each class closes with a floor relaxation section that can also be beneficial in a chair. We encourage you to bring your own yoga mat. All levels are welcome. Space limited. Register in person on the day of the class.

Pelham Promenaders (Square Dancing)

Day: 1st & 3rd Wednesdays Dates: Sept 3 -Dec 17

Cost: $2/class Time: 1:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.

Age: 55+ Location: Pelham Senior Center

Experienced & beginner square dancers are welcome. We have a wonderful caller who breaks the steps down & is easy to follow. Even if you have two left feet you can still learn to square dance!

Tai Chi

Day: Friday Dates: Sept 5 - Dec 19

Cost: $2/class Time: 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Age: 55 & Up Location: Pelham Senior Center

Tai Chi is a graceful, slow-moving, mind & body art form. The benefits include mental clarity, improved balance & increased flexibility, strength, & range of motion. Space limited. Register in person on the day of the class.

Pickleball 101

Day: Tuesday Dates: Oct 7, 14, 21, 28

Cost: $4/clinic

Time: Beginner Clinic 12:30 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.

Age: 55+ Location: Pelham Senior Center

Beginner Clinic: Have never played pickleball before. Learn the mechanics of the four basic shots used to build your game: drive, volley, serve & dinking. Players will be introduced to the basics of court coverage & playing patterns as well as topof-mind strategy & then will have the opportunity to try these new skills out with supervised play.

COMMUNITY SPECIAL EVENTS

Salsa in the Park

Age: All Location: Pelham City Park

Get on your feet for a night of music, dancing, and family fun! Enjoy free salsa lessons, social dancing, and lively Latin American music, plus bounce houses, face painting, and a balloon artist for the kids. In partnership with the Community of Hope Health Clinic, this event celebrates the rich culture of Latin music, dance, and food — perfect for salsa pros and beginners alike! No registration required.

Music at Park 124

Sept 7th: Featuring local band, Finding North, bounce houses, face painting, a balloon artist, food trucks and fun, family games for all. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs to relax and enjoy the evening.

Sept 28: Featuring Tucson Rain’s Tribute to Linda Ronstadt. Experience the magic of Linda Ronstadt’s timeless music in a special 90-minute including hits like “When Will I Be Loved,” “Blue Bayou,” and “You’re No Good.” Come relive the music, and celebrate the legacy of Linda Ronstadt with Tucson Rain.

Everyone’s invited to create a one-of-a-kind scarecrow for the competition. Individuals, families, civic groups, local clubs, businesses or organizations can participate for fun prizes and “bragging” rights. Scarecrows need to be set up in the park on Monday, November 10 between 4:00pm-6:00pm. and will remain in the park November 11- November 20 for all to see. Registration: September 3 - November 5

Elf Adventure

Santa’s mischievous Elves are hiding somewhere in Pelham- can you find them? Pick up or download an Elf Passport to guide you through the adventure November 29 - December 6. Times will be listed for each participating business. You will visit each business, find the elf and get your passport stamped. The more Elves you find the better your chances of winning! At the end of the Elf hunt, stop by the Pelham Rec Center to drop off your Elf Passport and join the festivities on Sunday, December 7 from 2-4pm. Enjoy hot chocolate, cookies, bounce houses, balloon twisting, Christmas craft and a FREE picture with Santa Claus. No registration required.

Must present Silver Sneakers/Renew Active card. Allows individuals age 65+, access to walking track, weight/cardio equipment and Silver Sneakers certified group exercise classes.

Blue Cross/Blue Shield Fitness Flex Card

Must present Flex card at the time of registration. Allows individuals age 65+, access to walking track, weight/cardio equipment and Silver Sneakers certified group exercise classes.
