from a singular concept,
we design and fabricate. that enables us to have close dialogues between them and create a cohesive work.
we find inspiration in the fundamentals of design and the materials we use. the concept expresses through a minimalistic approach. it is rather subtractive than additive.
we eliminate excess without losing the essence. so our work can convey the concept in a simple form.

a 2-dimensional sheet of steel is hand-formed to create a 3-dimensional object with an organic shape inspired by a raven. light and heavy. subtle and bold. it rests on an intricate balance between angle, weight, and gravity. asymmetrically balanced hand-formed stem stands on the round tube base filled with cement. the opal glass globe provides soft ambient illumination.

it feels raw and rough yet feels soft and warm at the same time. a simple uplight floor lamp full of materiality. its base consists of rough-sawn hardwood and blackened hot rolled steel. the singular stem holds an adjustable head providing indirect illumination.

the brass stem is heat-bent into a form to express a volume while keeping its singular movement. darker aged brass finish gradually becomes lighter as it gets closer to the opal glass globe.

ray
ray was born from the concept of providing a focused illumination with a simple steel shade, which expresses steel’s hardness and softness simultaneously. cold rolled steel shade was heat-formed to express a porcelain-like moldability. the bottom of the shade was flame heated to produce mill scale and color variation. the result is a minimal cylindrical light with unique materiality that can only be expressed through steel.

pele was established in 2022 by Hiro Ono. Hiro started pele to design and produce minimal and high-quality light fixtures under one roof to have strong dialogues between design and fabrication.
Hiro has worked as a Lighting Designer for over 10 years designing various project types and sizes. while he enjoyed many aspects of lighting design, his desire to create a tangible product from an initial design concept kept growing. after completing Tokyo Starbucks Reserve Roastery while working at Niteo, he left his lighting design profession and set out to builld a lighting product studio.
