P4P king Floyd Mayweather Jr gears up for the last fight of his career when he takes on former two time welterweight world champion Andre Berto. The curtain will close on what has been a true rag to riches story for the undefeated self proclaimed ‘TBE’. Unbeaten in 48 fights, Mayweather will be fighting the last leg of a six-fight deal with Showtime, earning the Nevada resident unprecedented amounts of money that no other fighter in the history of the sport has managed to demand. The p4p king will lock horns with Berto in what is deemed a complete mismatch.

Mayweather has come under heavy fire for choosing Berto, who in his last six bouts has gone 3-3 with fighters much below the calibre of Mayweather. Should “Money May” come through this expected victory,he will be 49-0, equalling the record that heavyweight legend Rocky Marciano set back in the 50’s. ‘TBE’ insists that this will be his last bout with many in the industry predicting that Mayweather will not be able to refuse the large amounts of money that will be thrown his way to fight for win number 50.

The WBO world middleweight championship bout between champion Andy Lee and Billy Joe Saunders has been postponed for a second time due to a cut BJS sustained in sparring. The former Olympian is awaiting specialist advice to see when he will be able to return to the ring and finally square off with the Irish champion. Details of the rescheduling should be known within the coming weeks.

WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto will be defending his title in a “super-fight” with Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez. The two will trade blows at the Mandalay Bay Hotel on 21st of November after weeks of negotiations.

Canelo’s sole defeat came at the hands of p4p king Floyd Mayweather back in 2013. The Mexican quickly got the defeat out his system with wins over Alfredo Angulo, Erislandy Lara and James Kirkland respectively.

Meanwhile, Miguel Cotto has ressurected his career with the jump to middleweight and hooking up with 7x trainer of the year Freddie Roach seeming to suit the Puerto Rican superstar. With victories over the then middleweight king Sergio Martinez and Australian contender Daniel Geale. Mexico and Puerto Rico have had some staunch rivalries in the past and thrown up some of the best fights in the history of the sport and this fight will probably be no different.

The most feared man in boxing, Gennady Golovkin, does battle with Canadian puncher IBF champion David Lemieux at Madison Square Garden in October.Golovkin’s KO ratio along with Lemieux’s stands at a whopping 177. Victory for either fighter should see them take on the winner of the Cotto-Alvarez fight. Lemieux in his last fight, dropped Holland native Hassan N’Dam N’jikam four times en route to a unanimous decision. Golovkin on the other hand stopped an overly matched Willie Monroe Jr in the sixth, having dropped the American to the canvas three times. Golovkins record now stands at 33-0 with 30 knockouts.

Anthony Joshua fights for his major title this September when he meets Gary Cornish for the Commonwealth heavyweight title. In one that should be of many titles, Joshua is expected to beat the Scottish challanger and move on to his heavyweight nemisis, Dillian Whyte. Whyte beat Joshua when the two were in the amateurs and Joshua said that that result will be irrelevant when the two finally meet.

IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook puts his title on the line when he meets Diego Chaves of Argentina. The special one will once again perform in front of his beloved sheffield fans but it wasn’t against the fighter the fans and many inside the industry wanted him to fight. The ongoing saga of a Brook and Amir Khan bout not happening looks to be still a million years from being made,not that it would be on behalf of the Brook camp. Brook has longed for the bout to happen and with him having a world title the sheffield native thought he stood more of a chance in the fight being made a reality.

Not that anyone would blame Khan as he was holding out on landing the Floyd Mayweather fight, which ironically went to Khan’s stablemate Andre Berto. It has been more time wasted for Khan who is still without an opponent and with very little names been mentioned it seems there is no rush in making an announcement.

The “Let’s Go Champ” campaign continued when Shannon Briggs knocked out Mike Marrone in the second round at the Hardrock hotel. Briggs will no doubt continue with his goading and consistant stalking of the Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitshcko. Klitschko has played down Briggs’s effort thus far and continues to laugh the cannon’s attempts to lure him in to a fight. Klitschko fights Britains undefeated heavyweight Tyson Fury in what is built as Klitshcko’s toughest opponent to date. Briggs continues to fight lesser know opposition and is yet to fight anybody inside the top 20 in the world since coming back from a 4 year long hiatus.

Vasyl Lomachenko is frustrated that his attempts to get Cuban god Guillermo Rigondeaux in the ring have failed.

The stumbling block seems to be a rehydration clause that Rigondeaux is said to be unhappy with. Both fighters had stellar amateur careers winning multiple world championships and also multiple Olympic gold medals.

Lomachenko’s sole defeat came at the hands of Orlando Salido in only his 2nd fight as a professional whilst Rigondeaux is yet to taste defeat in 15 bouts. Should the bout come about in the future it shall be one for the purists.

The skill level both fighters have displayed so far has been of the highest quality.
