Give Back to YOU this Season Wellness Tip of the Month Bella Gibson - Fit Pro This season is all about giving — but don’t forget to give back to yourself, too. So many of us pour into others during the holidays — cooking, planning, hosting, traveling, doing it all. But the strongest, healthiest version of you comes from the moments you choose you first. • Going to the gym this week isn’t about earning your plate. • It’s about reducing stress, boosting energy, and showing gratitude to the body that carries you every day. • It’s a mental reset, a mood booster, and sometimes the most peaceful hour in the chaos. The holidays don’t have to derail your goals — they can fuel them. Show up in small ways: get a quick sweat in, drink your water, stretch, and enjoy your meal guilt-free. Progress is built on balance, not restriction. So lace up, move your body, lift the weights, take the walk — whatever fills your cup. Because self-care isn’t selfish — it’s the fuel that lets you pour into everyone else. This holiday, I’m grateful for strong bodies, healthy hearts, and the steady growth that happens when we keep showing up — even when life gets busy. Let’s train to give back to ourselves, so we can give back to others, too.

Pilates strengthens both the body AND mind. Add Pilates equipment sessions to your fitness routine!

Shoe Shopping? Start Here! Fit Pro Tip of the Month Shelly Hargis - Fit Pro With all the workout shoe options on the market today it can be overwhelming trying to choose the right fit. I recently experienced this daunting task trying to find a trail running shoe when I got suckered into signing up for a Spartan race. How to pick the right one when there's so many options? Plus, shoes are pricey! I don't want to spend money on them to just sit in my closet because they didn't check all my boxes. You may be just starting your fitness journey or a seasoned pro looking for something new to try. Here are some tips for shoe buying: 1. Know your gait. Do you have a neutral gait or do you over or under pronate? You can find this out for yourself by looking online or by going to your local shoe store specialist who should be able to help you determine your gait. 2. Know what type of shoe you're looking for. Are you looking for an all-around workout shoe? Maybe a specialty shoe for running or weightlifting? And so on. 3. Look up "Best of" articles. There's lots of sites that have already done the leg work testing and reviewing a wide variety of shoes and will post their findings online. They research every thing about the shoes from the heel-to-toe drop to the ankle collar support. They list pros and cons for each shoe and usually include current pricing for a few retailers. 4. Read the reviews and ratings. You can get a lot of additional beneficial information from simply reading through the VERIFIED reviews from people who have actually purchased and worn the shoes. At this point you should have a list of a few shoes you're interested in. Let's go shopping! 5. Take your list to your local shoe store. You may have to look online to see if they carry the model of shoes in store before you head out. If not, you can try on similar models of the same brand to get an idea of how that particular brand fits and always ask about their ordering and r eturn policies. Don't forget to ask about price matching! Many retailers will price match if you find a lower price online. 6. It's best to try on shoes towards the end of the day when your feet are at their largest. Bring any orthotics or insoles you normally wear and make sure to try on both shoes. 7. Order online. Maybe you don't want to bother with going to a store and trying on the shoes there. Many online retailers offer free shipping and returns. You can order a few different shoes, try them on at home, and send back the ones that don't work. I hope these tips make your next shoe-buying adventure a little less intimidating. Good luck and I'll see you in the gym!
