CELEBRATION OF WORSHIP

Peachtree is a community of Jesus followers inviting people to love God in heart, mind, soul, and strength.

Assemble in God's Name Prelude

Congregational Introit * Christ is Made the Sure Foundation Prayer of Adoration*

Give Praise to God

Hymn of Praise ** God of Grace and God of Glory

#358

Lighting the Candles Placing of the Bible Prayer of Confession Sin is a master of disguises and we confess that we are often unaware of its destructive influence in our lives. But if we say we have no sin, we are selfdeceived and the truth is not in us. So search us, O God, and know our hearts, try us and know our thoughts and see if there is any wicked way within us. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Your Holy Spirit that we might worthily worship and magnify Your Name in all the earth. In these silent moments, reveal to us the sins for which we need to ask Your forgiveness… Assurance of God’s Forgiveness Congregational Response* Glory Be to the Father  #546 Life of the Congregation **

Those who are able, please stand. Ushers will seat latecomers at this time.

Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Doxology* Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow  #544

Offering Our Gifts ’Til the Storm Passes By

Hymn of Response* O God, Our Help in Ages Past  #111

Mosie Lister/arr. Jay Rouse

In the dark of the midnight have I oft hid my face, While the storms howl above me and there’s no hiding place. Mid the crash of the thunder, Precious Lord, hear my cry, “Keep me safe ’til the storm passes by.”

Listen to God's Word

Safe in the Storm Acts 27:13–26  (Pew Bible 1741–1742) Dave Peterson  8:45, 1O:OO, 11:15

Go in God's Name

Invitation and Benediction* Postlude

Many times Satan whispered, “There is no need to try, For there’s no end of sorrow, there’s no hope by and by.” But I know Thou are with me, and tomorrow I’ll rise Where the storms never darken the skies. ’Til the storm passes over, ’Til the thunder sounds no more, ’Til the clouds roll forever from the sky; Hold me fast, let me stand In the hollow of Thy hand, Keep me safe ’til the storm passes by. When the long night has ended and the storms come no more, Let me stand in Thy presence on that bright, peaceful shore. In that land where the tempest never comes, Lord, may I dwell with Thee when the storm passes by!

The beautiful flowers in the Sanctuary this morning are given to the glory of God and in Loving Memory of: William N. Blake by his wife, Ellen, and his daughter and her husband, Virginia & Matt Maguire

If your young child needs attention during worship, live broadcasts of the service are available in the Williams Center and the Nursing Mothers and Infants Room off of the Williams Center.

If you’re a good listener, consider Stephen Ministry training, starting September 21. Stephen Ministers are members of Peachtree who have volunteered and been trained to care for and support others in times of deep personal need like grief, divorce, loneliness, illness, job loss, relocation, and other life changes, for as long as needed. Stephen Ministers serve as a means by which others can receive God’s healing and walk with them through the storms of life.

To apply to be a Stephen Minister, contact Rev. Vicki Franch at 404-842-2571 or vfranch@peachtreepres.org
