SERMON OUTLINE
SALVATION: A ROCKY SHELTER
Psalm 62
When the world feels unstable, Psalm 62 anchors us in the unshakable character of God: strong, faithful, and always near.
Psalm 62 offers us five invitations:
I: Pause in God’s Presence (Psalm 62:1–2, 5–7)
“Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.”
Psalm 62 teaches us to stop striving and let our souls settle. Rest isn’t passive, it’s a choice to be still in the presence of the One who saves.
II:
Persist through Pressure (Psalm 62:3–4)
“How long will you assault me?... this leaning wall, this tottering fence?”
Life will shake. People will disappoint. David doesn’t deny the pain; he brings it honestly before God.
III: Pour Out What’s Hidden (Psalm 62:8)
“Pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.”
God invites our unfiltered honesty. He is strong enough to handle your full heart, and tender enough to receive it.
IV: Place No Hope in the Perishable (Psalm 62:9–10)
“Though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them.”
People, power, and possessions are breath, they can’t bear your hope. Only God can carry the weight of your soul.
V: Plant Your Life on God’s Power and Promise (Psalm 62:11–12)
“Power belongs to you, God, and with you, Lord, is unfailing love.”
God’s strength is matched by his steadfast love. This is the foundation we need when everything else shifts.
Daily Dwell: June 1-7
“Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.” - Psalm 62:6
