SERMON OUTLINE
BETTER THAN LIFE
Psalm 63:1-8
How to grow in love for God:
1. The Wilderness – where your love is revealed.
You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. (v. 1)
• Seek
• Thirst
• Long for
2. The Sanctuary – where your love is trained.
I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. (v. 2-5)
• Behold
• Glorify
• Praise
• Lift up
3. The Sleepless Night – where your love is held by God.
On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; your right hand upholds me. (v. 6-8)
• Remember
• Think
• Cling
• Uphold
“That is why the real problem of the Christian life comes where people do not usually look for it. It comes the very moment you wake up each morning. All your wishes and hopes for the day rush at you like wild animals. And the first job each morning consists simply in shoving them all back; in listening to that other voice, taking that other point of view, letting that other larger, stronger, quieter life come flowing in.” – CS Lewis
Daily Dwell: December 14-20
“Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.”
- Psalm 63:3

“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives.”
—Proverbs 11:30 (NIV)
In January, Peachtree Church will begin a yearlong journey through Cultivate: Life Together in the Spirit, inviting our whole congregation to grow in faith together. Every month we will explore a different fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control— and discover how God nurtures these qualities in our lives. Join us as we look forward to a year of deeper transformation and a closer walk with Jesus.
We believe lasting transformation happens best in community.
We hope you will consider being part of a Belong Group where you’ll have access to monthly resources like:
