Lynda Carter is the epitome of the consummate entertainer—she’s made her mark reinventing the role of the superhero, appeared alongside the highest profile stars on television and on Broadway, was “the face” of a worldwide cosmetic company and even a singing character in a post-apocalyptic video game. She’s also utilized her worldwide recognition as a celebrity and a performer to bring to light issues of female empowerment. As a woman of mixed race, she has proudly shone a light on her Mexican heritage. What many don’t know is that since the age of 14, when Lynda’s career officially began, it was her singing and songwriting talent that shone through then and ever brighter to this day. Three years after the release of her last album Red Rock N’Blues, Carter shares one of the most emotionally resonant songs of her career, “Human and Divine” is available now at all digital retailers via Green Hill Music. Produced by her longtime record producer Kyle Lehning, the song is nothing less than an epic with themes of love, strength and inspiration in her life resonating throughout. On the one hand, the song reflects the inspirational love of her husband, but it’s also a connection to strength and the love found in the powerful female characters in Wonder Woman. From the first heartfelt verses, her unmistakable vocals burst out of the gate in a rich basso profundo and continue to anchor the ballad as it hits some truly heroic crescendos. Also appearing on the song are opera star Soloman Howard and Tim Foust on backing vocals, Viktor Krauss on bass, Pat Coil on piano and Steve Brewster on drums. Says Carter: “Music is in our souls, in our hearts, in our minds and in our bodies. We mark events with certain kinds of music, we attribute love to certain kinds of music. Writing this song, I felt extremely vulnerable and inspired. That is where the human and the divine come together. I started writing the song about my own love story with my husband, while I was in discussions about appearing in the Wonder Woman ’84 movie. As I was cast as Asteria in the movie, it became about the love between Steve and Diana, and then the love that some of us are so lucky enough to have in our lives, the great love stories over the ages. My hope is that this song will inspire your connection to your own love in your life.”

Best known for winning our hearts as TV’s Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter is an accomplished singer who has performed to rave reviews before sell-out crowds around the world. In addition to her long acting career, Lynda has the distinction of producing and starring in five highly rated network television specials for CBS, several of which were Emmy Award nominated. She has appeared onstage with many of the world’s most popular performers including Tom Jones, Ray Charles, Kenny Rogers, George Benson and Ben Vereen.

DJ Mike Pope has always had a passion for dance music and has been spinning in the Atlanta area since 2006. Learning the ropes and spinning alongside well known international DJ’s like Tony Moran, Joe Gauthreaux, Tracy Young, Roland Belmares and Johnny Vicious has helped DJ Mike Pope develop his own style in the DJ booth. One of a handful of Billboard reporting DJs in the nation and the only Billboard DJ in the state of Georgia for the last 3 years, Pope has garnered recognition from peers and music industry professionals. Nominated as one of the “Best Up & Coming DJs” for the 2011 JustCircuit Awards, DJ Mike Pope has also won many local Atlanta area awards as well as recognition for help with non-profit In 2010 he began his first residency at Heretic Atlanta, and during his four years there, he has developed a large loyal following that continues to grow week after week. He has DJ’d at virtually every bar and nightclub in the Atlanta area including XION, Atlanta Eagle, Blakes On The Park, Jungle Nightclub, Opera Nightclub, Amsterdam and Halo Ultra Lounge. Outside of the Atlanta area, DJ Mike Pope has DJ’d at various nightclubs and bars including Cathode Azure (Charlotte), Marigny (Charlotte), Nowhere Bar (Louisville, KY) and Catalina Hotel & Beach Club (Miami). Pope has also spun numerous large music events including Joining Hearts, Change Of Seasons (Atlanta), Charlotte Pride, Wonder World Orlando, Rites Of Spring (Birmingham, AL) and Winter Music Conference (Miami, FL). DJ Mike Pope’s musical style is influenced by circuit, tribal and progressive house sounds as well as top 40 commercial dance. He has proven to be a very versatile DJ that can spin tea dance, peak hour and after hours sets and always takes the crowd on a musical journey. His podcasts have been featured on GayInternetRadioLive.com and AddictedToRadio.com. PEACH. How would you describe your sound? MP: My sound started off in 2007 big vocal anthems but over the years I’ve played so many different types of parties, that I range from house to disco to tribal to 80s, 90s and current pop music. I love the diversity in my sets so that I’m not just labeled with one genre. PEACH: Are there any artists that you currently have on repeat or you’re inspired by? MP: In my car, I’ve got my EDM fix with BPM on SiriusXM. When prepping for my club sets I’m inspired by the likes of Tony Moran, Mauro Mozart, Edson Pride, Rosabel, Mark Knight, and the list goes on. Anything by Madonna, Dua Lipa and Lady Gaga! PEACH: What makes for a great set?

I

MP: I always believe that the DJ’s job is to take you on a journey and connect with the crowd. There’s a beginning, middle and end and I love it when I can pull off that energy build that happens over a 5 hour set. I’ve been inspired by other DJs that use this formula and it’s the story-telling talent that equals a great set. PEACH: What’s a favorite venue that you’ve played where the crowd always brings good energy? MP: I’m partial to the Heretic where I’ve had my DJ residency at since 2010. So many amazing memories over the years and the crowd always gives so much back to me with their enthusiasm on the dance floor. PEACH: What does Pride mean to you as a LGBTQ+ DJ? MP" Being united. Our community coming together not just during a Pride parade, but coming together on the dance floor. As a DJ that continues to DJ for almost exclusively gay audiences, Pride reminds me of where I belong. There’s pride in being a gay DJ and I’m thankful for that.

FELIXS CARWASH

Peach Scene @

Dear Peach, I worry about the community losing what Pride means in the grand scheme of things. I think that the big corporations attending the festivals are going to cause issues in the long run because we all know that they are trying to monopolize on our finances, but how can I enjoy the festivities when I feel so jaded by the whole thing?

Corporations are what make the world go ‘round unfortunately. When you understand that the world is run by money and exists for the purpose of trading and commerce, then you understand that there is going to be the inevitable “swoop in” of big corporations on pretty much every aspect of life around us. Look at the surge in gas prices. Why did that happen? Because gas companies are able to set their own prices KNOWING that people will need it in order for the world to operate. People rely on travel. Why are corporations becoming involved in Pride festivals? Because they know that the loyalty and visibility in the LGBTQIA+ community will benefit them in the long run: happier employees who see their company being inclusive, happier customers who see a more inclusive company to support, more diversity in their customer base brings more knowledge to the table of what the consumer desires, and so on. There will always be more than the original reason that a company will get involved because unfortunately money makes the world go round… however, that should not deter you from being authentically you and enjoying the festivities during a month that is meant to celebrate diversity and beyond! Go out and have an absolute blast.
