8 Practical Gifts to Give Your LGBTQ+ Friends on Their Wedding Day By Mikey Rox

Brush off your LGBTQ+ friends’ wedding registry – what kind of basic bitch gifts a blender anyway? – and consider a practical-but-stillthoughtful present that the happy couple can put to good use without taking up much (or any) space in their home. Here are eight ideas to get you started. 1. Moving Crew If the newly betrothed are relocating soon, do a solid and purchase a moving package. This can be pricey, so if you can’t afford to hire several hours of full-service moving, ask your mutual friends to pitch in or put on your charitable caps and DIY the move together. The only cost of going the latter route is time and energy, plus you’ll get in a great workout outside of a bedroom. 2. Dance Classes If the two saying ‘I do’ have four left feet, present them with prewedding dancing lessons. Attending several sessions a few months before the wedding will give the rug-cutting duo more confidence on the floor when they’re in the spotlight for the first time.

3. Home Repair Supplies Home repairs (even small ones) add up quickly – especially if they have to hire someone. To help alleviate this cost, surprise the lawfully wedded with a hodgepodge of tools and other household must-haves in a nice toolbox for convenient and aesthetically pleasing storage. Another helpful around-the-house idea is to gift painting essentials – trays, rollers, brushes, and drop cloths – with a gift certificate to a nearby hardware store so they can choose the colors to freshen up their home. 4. Cooking Lessons Cooking isn’t everyone’s favorite hobby, but it’s one of those few daily opportunities that spouses can take advantage of to grow closer. If the couple isn’t kitchen savvy, introduce them to the wonderful world of from-scratch satisfaction with cooking lessons. Private lessons can be held in their home, or you can find a local establishment that offers lessons. The latter will be much less expensive than the former, and it’ll give your friends an opportunity to mix and mingle with other couples with whom they already have something in common.

5. Homemade Craft Booze If your pals are booze lovers, add a personal touch to one of their favorite beverages by brewing a case of homemade suds, fermenting wine, or bottling gin. To add even more flair, dress the bottles with custom labels that you can order online that celebrates their wedding day. The recipients will enjoy kicking back and relaxing with your pickme-up gift, and they’ll likely think fondly of your creativity and care every time they crack off a cap. 6. HitchSwitch Gift Card

burden. Make it easy-breezy for your freshly married friends – who should be spending their first year having fun under the sheets instead of sweeping behind the stove – by surprising them with several hours of cleaning services scheduled for the beginning of spring and fall. 8. Language-Learning Software One of the advantages of your friends being LGBTQ+ and bound by marital law is that they’re likely a DINK (Dual Income No Kids) couple that has money to burn. (No offense to all you parents out there, of course, but your days of jet setting are over for a while.) Thus, they have the incredible opportunity to see the world at their leisure if they’re savvy savers. You can help make their vacation even more enriching and fulfilling by gifting them language-learning software. The beauty of language-learning software – besides becoming part of an entire population of people with whom they can now converse – is that it’s conducive to couples using it together, which will help fortify their relationship even more.

While not as common in LGBTQ marriages as it is in straight unions for one partner to change their last name to the other partner’s, plenty of LGBTQ couples are traditionalists – and more power to them. To make the name-changing process stress free, set them up with HitchSwitch, an online namechanging service that removes all the hassle of assembling, filling out, and filing forms, starting at $39. It’s not a super-exciting gift, but it’s one less thing they’ll have to worry about as they start their new life Mikey Rox is an award-winning together – and they’ll appreciate journalist and blogger whose work that sentiment very much. has been published in more than 100 outlets across the world, including 7. Tanzer is in the business of escapism - and escape you shall. A singer, composer, DJ and visual artist, Tanzer is known for her cinematic, high-glamour, escapist works that are at once intensely powerful, deeply fragile and darkly humorous. Her work spans stages, clubs, galleries and festivals and fuses musical forms to a multitude of performative and artistic outcomes. Her musical compositions move from opera to disco and from the experimental to pure pop - exploring self-image, gender, romance and the power of the alter ego. Her film and curatorial works are renowned for their elaborate dreamscapes and meticulous aesthetic that take stylistic cues from ‘70s retro-futurism, Euro-camp and Australian pop culture nostalgia.

TANZER also announces new mini-album DISCO AUTOMATIC to be released on April 22, 2022 Australian-based singer, DJ, artist and proud queer community member Tanzer, has released her new disco-tinged single, “Fantasy,” alongside the new music video, a sci-fi heartbreak epic and an ode to doomed love. In the music video, directed by Alex Smith, Tanzer urges her toxic lover to abandon all logic and reason for one more sip of poison before their inevitable demise. The video was shot on tube-based cameras from the late ‘70s, and was inspired by the retro-futuristic camp of Barbarella, Cicciolina’s ‘80s TV performances, and the promotional videos of spiritual group Unarius Academy Of Science. Of the visuals Tanzer says: “I am, in fact, a Gemini, and relished the chance to show off my range as both a split personality and master of disguise in this video.” In the music video, which takes place between a spacecraft and smoky space corridors, Tanzer embodies many characters including hard-working drones, a giant golden space creature, and a lusty space leader. In addition to releasing “Fantasy,” Tanzer has announced her upcoming mini-album Disco Automatic, which will arrive on April 22, 2022. The 6-song release shows the range of Tanzer’s multi-hyphenate abilities in all of its disco, pop, operatic majesty. The accompanying videos also dazzle with an array of themes from Drag (including Tanzer’s Drag King persona) to Sci-Fi and so much more. Tanzer traveled all the way from Australia to the micro-state of San Marino this year to enter “Fantasy” into the national final for the Eurovision Song Contest - a lifelong dream for Tanzer, who grew up in Rome, Italy watching the infamous song competition.

She may not have won the chance to perform at Eurovision, but she amassed a huge cult following along the way, with countless fans glued to her high-camp Instagram video diaries documenting her Eurovision adventure. Disco Automatic will include some of Tanzer’s previously released tracks including “Deep Fried Disco,” which was inspired by the fantastic, camp songs we all know and love. A love letter to ABBA, Sheryl Lee Ralph and 1980s Eurovision, the song tells the story of an imaginary place where one can find solace, play and escape through music. The accompanying music video paints a dazzling picture of glamour, escapism and celebration of the queer community. The mini-album will also include the previously released track “Tango,” a bizarre, funky disco banger featuring lyrics in English and shabby Australian-Italian. ARIES: Money is of concern this week, but not to fret because you have been here before. You are not dictated by your finances although you think you are. Know that this too shall pass, and all will be alright.

LIBRA: Help is on the way in the form of a donor or friend who is about to invest in something that you find near and dear to your heart. Just because the money is not coming from you directly to your cause, doesnt mean you didnt help secure it.

TAURUS: You are incredibly accident prone this week and because of this you are concerned about trying something new that has been presented to you. However, if you dont try this new thing you could be passing up a great opportunity. What to do?

SCORPIO: You are a bit depressed this week thinking that you have not been recognized for your achievements at work however you have to understand that you dont work to be recognized all the time, you work because you have a passion for the thing you love.

GEMINI: Your-worker is going to affect your productivity for the week and you are going to have to work through it because if you do not, then what? Are you going to let your work fall to the wayside because someone else is feeling down? NOPE!

SAGITTARIUS: Sudden events that come to you via the news and media outlets are going to drive you up the wall this week because you think that the world is falling apart around you. And while you may be right to a certain extent, you have to take a moment to breathe or else you'll be miserable.

CANCER: You are expecting some funds to hit your bank account this week but they might be delayed for whatever reason, so for that reason, now might be the best time to start setting aside money you thought you had to spend willy-nilly. Focus in!

CAPRICORN: Your progress that you have been making is about to come to a standstill but not because of anything that you have done; you just need to take the moment to step back and realize that somethings things wont work out in your favor and you need to be resilient. So, DO IT.

LEO: Boredom is about to set in this week and you are going to need to break loose from the everyday monotany that is your life. How can you spice up your life? Yes, that was a Spice Girls reference... why would we pass that up?

AQUARIUS: A long time dream might be coming true or at least showing back up as a possibility this week, and you have to be ready for whatever comes your way. If you truly want this, know that sacrifices might be made and that is okay because the reward is worth the sacrifices in the long run.

VIRGO: This week you are going to notice more than you ever have before and you are going to feel more in tune with with your surroundings than you ever have before. Feelings of hyper vigilance and situational awareness are going to make you feel like you're being too observant, but watch for the reason WHY.

PISCES: You are truly your own worst critic this week, Pisces. While you want to be your own biggest cheerleader, all you can see is what you have done wrong and the things that you have ultimately no control over. You need to get out of your head because it might be hindering you from greatness.

Dear Peach, Me and my partner have been dating for some time now and I am honestly wondering… How long is too long to wait for them to take the next step? They have hinted at wanting to and even asked questions about how I would like someone to propose (etc.) but they haven’t made the move… any advice?

Standards on dating and proposals have changed so much in the past decade that this question shouldn’t even be asked anymore! Who cares about getting married? Marriage is one hundred percent an institutionalized pressure that was brought about by the church. If the church had not existed, rituals that were a bit more open would have existed in uniting people together but not as strict as the church once made them. If you want to get married, say so because that might not be where your partner’s head is at. And, if you decide that it is NOT for you and your partner then you might be able to stay together regardless. If you decide that it IS for you, then live happily ever after. But do not go forth in your relationship without talking about it. If you do that then you’re doing both of you a disservice.
