Long before the Coronavirus, our company was dedicated to cleaning at the highest standards. It is in this spirit that we have aligned our cleaning standards with the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) recently launched Safe Stay. These guidelines are a commitment to enhanced cleaning measures and safety guidelines that help us meet and exceed the concerns created during the pandemic.
Our guests deserve the peace of mind in knowing that our company is united behind an industry set of cleaning and safety practices. Safe Stay was created in accordance with guidance issued by public health authorities, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
This alignment with Safe Stay demonstrates our commitment to our top priority; the health and safety of guests.

Our homes and villas are available for rental on a weekly basis in Summer and for a minimum of two nights during the off-season. During Summer, reservations run from Friday to Friday for most houses and Saturday to Saturday for most villas, unless otherwise noted. Please call if you have any questions or special requests.
All reservations require a 50% deposit of the total reservation cost. A Deposit Request and Rental Agreement will be mailed or emailed to you on the day your reservation is booked. To confirm your reservation, the signed Agreement and the 50% deposit must be received by the Rental Office within 10 days of booking. Reservations not confirmed within this time requirement shall be automatically canceled. The balance of the rental cost is due 30 days prior to arrival.
We accept personal checks, bank checks, travelers checks, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. All deposits and payments will be placed in an interest bearing account, with interest accruing to DeBordieu Rentals. Rates are subject to change without notice
Rates quoted in this brochure do not include state and local taxes, or optional Vacation Travel Insurance.

CHECK-IN is after 3:00 p.m.
Please arrange your travel plans accordingly. Due to the size and complexity of our homes, the housekeepers and staff must devote every minute of the limited time available to cleaning and inspecting our rental properties. As much as we would like to accommodate your early travel, we cannot let you check in, nor can we issue a pass to enter DeBordieu until 3:00 p.m. Please do not pressure the staff to allow you to enter before 3:00 p.m., as this only takes away precious time that could be spent readying your rental home and those of other guests.
CHECK-OUT is before 10:00 a.m.
This allows us time to prepare the home for our next guests. No exceptions, please. A hold over fee can be charged for every hour after 10:00 a.m.
If a reservation is canceled, the rental deposit will be forfeited. Only if the property is re-rented for the same term and rate will the deposit be refunded, less an administrative charge of $250.
Guests reserving accommodations at DeBordieu enter into an agreement (with DeBordieu as agent) with a particular property owner, for a particular property. Therefore, transfers to another property are not allowed. Only if the original property is re-rented for the same term and rate will the deposit be transferable to the new reservation (see Cancellations).
LINEN SERVICE is required for all rentals and includes sheets, bath towels, hand towels, wash cloths, dish towels, pot holders and bath mats. When you arrive you will find your beds made and towels set out on the beds. Beach towels are supplied; 4/1-10/31.
DEPARTURE CLEANING is provided, however, we require the following:
• All trash be placed in outside containers.
• All rooms free of trash or debris.
• Kitchen free of trash and food, refrigerator emptied.
• All kitchenware be washed and stored in cabinets and drawers.
• A final load of dishes may be left cleaning upon exit.
• Carpet and floors free of excess food, debris and sand.
• The home is to be left in a neat and orderly fashion, with furniture arranged as it was found.
• Grills must be cleaned after use.
Failure to leave the home as above will result in additional cleaning charges.
Late summer and fall are hurricane seasons. Having a storm threaten your vacation is a possibility, however small. In the event government officials or the DeBordieu general manager order a mandatory evacuation of the area, due to natural disasters including but not limited to, hurricanes, floods, or tornadoes, guests must vacate the premises immediately. Unless Travel Protection has been purchased, there will be no reimbursement for a mandatory evacuation.
Our rental homes have been decorated and equipped to satisfy the particular tastes and desires of the owners. While some are luxurious and others simple, all homes and villas are furnished with central A/C and heat, washer/dryer, dishwasher, TV with cable, and a fully equipped kitchen. The furnishings are not to be moved or rearranged and are subject to change without notice. Any locked closets are reserved for the storage of the owner’s private property and are not to be entered into or tampered with.
is strictly limited to the number stated in the unit description. The only exception is an infant sleeping in a crib. Extra roll-away beds or sleeping bags are not allowed.
Houseparties are not allowed. Any group consisting predominately of unrelated people under the age of 25, whether chaperoned or not, is considered a houseparty. Should a houseparty occupy a rental home, the rental will terminate immediately without a refund. The person making the reservation shall be held liable for any damage to the property, it’s contents, or surroundings.
Some of our homes/villas are indicated “pet friendly” with a $250 non-refundable fee associated with bringing your pet. If you are not staying in a “pet friendly” home/villa and you bring a pet without permission, you will be charged a $500 violation fee.
If a home or villa is listed for sale, the sales department may need to schedule a showing. Our sales staff will give at least 24 hours notice prior to the showing. If the home you have reserved is listed for sale, it will be noted on your Deposit Request.
From time to time, a home may be made unavailable due to damage or change of ownership. In this event, DeBordieu will attempt to locate comparable substitute accommodations. If no suitable substitute can be located, all deposits and payments shall be refunded.
Guests towing a boat are required to obtain a temporary boat decal and to pay the appropriate guest fee. No wake speed zones are strictly enforced in creeks. A full description of boat rules and regulations is available through the Security Office. Please call (843) 527-4931. Jet skis are not permitted.
Motorcycles, moped motorized bikes, go carts, and similar motorized vehicles are prohibited within DeBordieu Colony. Campers, trailers, or any other live-in moving vehicles are also prohibited. Motor vehicles are not allowed on beach.
Guests may bring battery operated golf carts, but must provide registration and proof of insurance. Operators must have a valid drivers license and obey all S.C. traffic law and regulations. Operation is limited to daylight hours.
• Fireworks are prohibited within DeBordieu Colony.
• Discharge of firearms of any kind is prohibited.
• Public walkways are clearly marked. Do not walk through private property.
You may reserve the same home for next year by leaving the required deposit during your current stay. You must reserve prior to 2022 checkout to keep your priority status. You may call to reserve for next year at 843-979-2700.
