You drive students to safety In partnership with Western Lane Fire and Emergency Medical Services, eight caregivers from PeaceHealth Peace Harbor Medical Center recently hosted the “Every 15 Minutes” national impaired driving prevention program at Siuslaw High School. This program, largely fueled by your generosity, helps young student drivers gain a better understanding of the staggering statistics that driving impaired is linked to one death every 15 minutes.

“

All of you saved me from the worsening of my stroke. I will never forget all your kind and encouraging words.” — Grateful patient at PeaceHealth Peace Harbor

Through this innovative program, our caregiver teams show young people real-life scenarios by using role playing techniques to emphasize the importance of making safe decisions that impact not only their lives, but the lives of their friends, loved ones and community. continued on inside page

Your inspiring impact

Your giving brings joy to our community Every year since 1979, dedicated PeaceHealth caregivers have organized a holiday collection drive to give love and nourishment to hundreds of families facing financial, medical or other life challenges. How? By providing baskets full of all the ingredients to make a delicious Thanksgiving meal. It’s a PeaceHealth mission-inspired effort that demands hundreds of volunteer hours and substantial contributions from donors like you. And it’s one of our most cherished holiday traditions in Lane County. What began with just 50 holiday baskets of food has grown significantly throughout the years, thanks to power of philanthropy. In 2023, we gave 800 Thanksgiving Baskets to families in need. With your help in 2024, we reached 850 local families who would have otherwise gone without the joy of having a Thanksgiving feast. This is just one more example of how you are uplifting lives right here at home.

YOUR INSPIRING IMPACT, OUR ENDURING GRATITUDE

Caring for fragile children, together Time and again, the power of your generosity is put into action locally to change and often save the lives of our community’s tiniest and often sickest patients. Through your support of the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN), an essential program of PeaceHealth Sacred Heart, you make amazing things happen in the name of hope and healing for the youngest among us.

You make second chances possible Those who know Richard Dannemiller know that he has a special gift — the gift of well-honed craftsmanship in building beautiful homes. But, in November 2023, the work Richard loves hit a serious road bump. While on a job site along the McKenzie River, he was suddenly found unconscious. After being rushed to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart’s Emergency Department, Richard spent the next two weeks in our intensive care unit where he was treated for a stroke. Your inspiring generosity helped give Richard a second chance at life, ensuring access to the best possible care close to home when it was needed the most. This included high resolution scans and minimally invasive surgery to stop the bleeding in his brain that helped save him. Through Richard’s own tenacity, and with the compassionate expertise of our caregivers, he saw tremendous healing. And in a very real way, you helped him get there by supporting PeaceHealth Sacred Heart. Now, over a year later, Richard is back to his normal life and back to building beautiful homes. Many patients just like him are thankful for the outstanding care, guidance and grace they receive here — and your wonderful gifts have a lot to do with it. As Dr. Richard Padgett, PeaceHealth System Medical Director for Cardiac Services, says, “Your generosity allows us to upgrade equipment so that the caregivers at the Oregon Heart & Vascular Institute can offer leading edge diagnostics and technologies.” The outcome is many more second chances, more hope and healing, and a healthier tomorrow for all of us in Lane County. Thank you for advancing our life-saving care here at home.

This past year, we celebrated two long-standing community traditions: the 29th annual CMN Golf Classic golf tournament and a milestone 15th year of CMN’s Lunch at Tiffany’s auction. Our deepest thanks go out to the many local businesses, community partners and generous supporters like you who attended these special fundraising events to help improve life-saving pediatric healthcare in our region. With your help, the CMN program raised over $1,300,000 in 2024! Because of you, young patients find life-saving care at no additional cost to their families. The power of your philanthropy extends to Kids Helping Kids, our local high school peer-to-peer fundraising program, which collectively raised over $150,000 in support of CMN last year. This program works to foster a stronger connection between classroom learning and real-life experiences through service. Together, we’re inspiring kids and adults alike to give back to our community and help children who need it most.

In times of crisis, you’re there with us As we land in the thick of a new winter season, we reflect on last year’s damaging ice storm that left an estimated 25,000 people without power in Cottage Grove and Lane County. In immediate response, PeaceHealth Cottage Grove Medical Center’s staff stepped up without pause to serve our community. Even with limited services available for five and a half days, they showed up every day to be there for anyone in need. Amid the face of such terrible chaos, our team cared for fall injuries, victims of fire, carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning and other health concerns. Thanks to you, we’ve been able to purchase advanced equipment, including a new CO monitor, to help save more lives and ensure that we are wellprepared for any similar emergencies in the future. You deserve our deepest gratitude for helping us meet the needs of our community during times of crisis.

Creating lasting change through legacy giving It takes the will of many to uplift the lives of others. Just ask Kathy Corwin. Not only has she made a significant gift of her estate to PeaceHealth, she also donates her time to our Volunteer Services. As Kathy says, “Giving back to the community and helping take care of everyone is important.” Her connection with PeaceHealth began with the compassionate care her late husband, Kyle, received as one of our patients. Upon returning home, Kyle said he would like to do something nice for the nurses who gave him such great care. This inspired Kathy to make a lasting gift in support of the incredible nurses who expertly cared for her husband and continue to care for our community still. Through her legacy gift and volunteering, Kathy hopes to make a life-changing difference now and far into the future. We’re grateful for you Kathy, and for all of our legacy donors, whose commitment to our community means healthier days ahead for many years to come.

“Thank you to all the nurses and doctors in the swingbed unit in Cottage Grove for the wonderful care and kindness they showed my husband while he was a patient there. You are wonderful!” — Grateful family member at PeaceHealth
