Hospice House Room and Board Assistance

$150,636.00

Whatcom Hospice Foundation offers grants to ease the financial burden of Hospice House Room & Board for those in need.

Complementary Therapies

$196,505.00

Access to alternative therapies like acupuncture and massage for management of troubling symptoms like anxiety, nausea and constipation, which are common at the end of life.

Bridge Assistance

$41,313.00

Short-term, hourly in-home caregiving for patients when hospice inpatient placement is temporarily delayed.

Patient & Family Assistance

$15,424.00

Immediate discretionary funding for special patient and family needs identified by hospice staff.

Palliative Treatments

$69,918.00

Assistance with uninsured cost for palliative treatments needed for symptom control and quality of life.

Staff Development

$50,000.00

Education and training for our growing hospice team. Assistance with costs of attaining hospice and palliative care certifications.

Bereavement Program

$115,001.00

Bereavement education and support including support groups, grief packets, “Grief Talk” mailings, “We Honor Veterans Program” and more. This year’s grant adds a bereavement counselor to grow our pediatric bereavement outreach program.

Volunteer Development

$4,406.00

Training and support programs for caring volunteers who are available to help families with tasks like grocery shopping, cleaning and medication delivery.

Patient & Family Education

$10,000.00

Customized education packets for each hospice family containing detailed instructions about how to care for their dying loved one.

Community Education

$13,795.00

Hospice and advance care planning materials, education and outreach.

Total FY22 Program Grant: $666,998.00* *Whatcom Hospice Foundation also covers facility maintenance for Whatcom Hospice House and Hospice Administration Building and property. In Fiscal Year 2022, $20,311 was allocated for facility and property maintenance. The total amount allocated to Whatcom Hospice services includes $45,540 raised for local hospice services by PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation.
