We are delighted to have you here with us – virtually - for Light the Night in the Secret Garden. Once again we’re doing many things differently this year, but some things never change.

All funds raised during the auction support our local Whatcom Hospice program.

Your gifts ensure that every patient in need of Hospice services will receive exceptional Hospice care, regardless of ability to pay.

While Whatcom Hospice will always be committed to providing in-home care, for many that isn’t possible. For those in need of inpatient care, our 12-bed Hospice House offers a warm and welcoming home-like environment.

LIVE AUCTION Live Auction bidding will open at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 13; it will remain open until after the livestreamed auction ends, closing at 8:30 p.m. The winner of a Live Auction item will be the person who bids the highest amount.

You may set a guaranteed maximum in advance, to automatically advance your bid in designated increments as others bid against you.

SILENT AUCTION The Silent Auction will open on November 8 at 7:00 p.m., with all items available at that time. It will close at 10:00 p.m. on November 13. If you are outbid, you will receive a notice by text.

You may register a maximum bid and incremental increases. A few items have set prices and may be purchased by multiple bidders – this will be noted in the item descriptions.

ALL SALES FINAL Payment will be made in full the night of the auction. Major credit cards are accepted. All sales are final, with no exchanges or refunds on any items except where specified. Items are non-transferable.

ITEM PICKUP Auction purchases will be available for pickup on Wednesday, November 17, 2:007:00 p.m., at the Four Points by Sheraton (714 Lakeway Dr. Bellingham, WA 98225) If you have purchased gift certificates but no physical items, you have the option of having the certificates mailed to you. Every year Gerald Baron creates a new painting for the "Light the Night" auction, and fans eagerly await the latest creation. "Secret Garden" is a 30” x 30” oil painting on gallery wrapped canvas. This beautiful scene, with a floral guided path, gives the viewer the freedom to imagine where the path will lead. Along with gorgeous variations of lush green, the scene truly comes alive with the accents of the bright and bold colors of the flowers as well as the hint of blue sky peeking through at the top of this breathtaking painting.

Hunters & Gatherers Dinner

Frank hunts; Patti gathers; celebrity chef Ashley Rodriguez, Not Without Salt cookbook author and Kitchen Unnecessary Chef, prepares the dinner, and friends of Hospice serve. Sixteen guests will enjoy a gourmet wild game dinner hosted by Frank and Patti Imhof in their beautiful home overlooking the islands.

The menu will feature a variety of foraged food accompanied by

seasonal game provided by Frank and his party of hunters. Wine will be selected by Patti with consultation from Siefert Jones Wine Merchants.

Date in 2022 to be arranged with hosts.

Ashley Rodriguez is a Seattle-based food writer, cooking instructor, food photographer, author of Date Night

In, and Let’s Stay In, wife, and mother of three young children. As the creator of notwithoutsalt.com, Ashley blogs about life as told through food.

Three couples will join Dr. Warren and Marybeth Taranow for a fun evening of classic pairings: fine wines and gourmet dishes. The Taranow’s wine cellar holds some new, old, and rare wines from around the world. It's always a fabulous evening with friends. Previous pairings have included Dom Perignon and Cristal and caviar, oysters and Muscadet, truffles and Barolo, foie gras and Sauternes, Vintage Port and Stilton.

comfortable dining experience. The culinary offerings will be fresh Alaskan salmon and side dishes made from seasonal ingredients.

After the delicious, relaxed dinner, you will board the boats and resume the cruise for the final destination and final food offering of the evening: dessert!
