Whatcom Hospice Foundation offers grants to ease the financial burden of Hospice House Room & Board for those in need.
Complementary Therapies
$97,071.22
Access to alternative therapies like acupuncture and massage for management of troubling symptoms like anxiety, nausea and constipation, which are common at the end of life.
In-Home Respite
$66,181.56
Up to 60 hours of in-home respite care for each patient receiving hospice care in their own home, allowing their caregivers a short break.
Uncompensated Care
$33,957.22
Assistance with uninsured costs of end-of-life services for patients who do not qualify for Medicare or Medicaid and have no other payer. Also, assistance for those unable to afford their insurance deductibles and copays.
Palliative Treatments
$54,064.13
Assistance with uninsured cost for palliative treatments needed for symptom control and quality of life.
Community Liason

A staff member to work with referring providers and other key community stakeholders to ensure seamless, coordinated patient care and a positive experience with our services.
Bereavement Program

Total FY21 Program Grant: $447,043.58* *Whatcom Hospice Foundation also covers facility maintenance for Whatcom Hospice House and Hospice Administration Building and property. In Fiscal Year 2021 over $9,129 was allocated for facility and property maintenance. Some of the funds raised in FY21 are being used to secure property adjacent to the Whatcom Hospice House to protect it from future commercial development, preserving the serenity of the beautiful campus for patients and their families.

Estate Planning Services for Whatcom Hospice Foundation Donors As a service to our friends and donors, Whatcom Hospice Foundation has partnered with Thompson & Associates to offer values based charitable estate planning services. Our representative will personally guide donors thorough a thoughtful process at no charge and with no obligation. The goal is to create a plan (or review an existing estate plan) that transfers assets to loved ones in a way that is tailored to fit individual needs while identifying philanthropic resources that may be used to support one’s legacy and charitable interests.
