THE REGIONS
THE REGIONS is a new band formed by old friends. The group reunited in the past year after first meeting at the University of Miami, where they studied under Professor Emeritus of Jazz Studies Ron Miller. After recording a few songs together, the group decided to record a tribute album to the man who brought them so much inspiration years ago. The album features Miller’s original compositions in a new, reimagined format.

In 1994, Thomas Lauderdale wanted to create a new sound that would energize crowds and serve as an inclusive soundtrack to political fundraising. That’s right – the “little orchestra” began as a way to further Lauderdale’s career goals. He drew inspiration from all over the world, crossing classical, jazz and old-fashioned pop until he landed on the genre-bending music you hear today from PINK MARTINI. Fast forward one year, he called China Forbes, a Harvard classmate living in New York City, and asked her to join in on the fun.
Today, Pink Martini features a dozen musicians, has songs in 25 languages, and performs on reputable stages, including The Kennedy Center, The Hollywood Bowl, and the Royal Albert Hall in London.
