A note from your neighbourhood manager

Help us tackle Anti-Social Behaviour

As we move through autumn, we're continuing to look at ways to improve Fairweather Close and Elizabeth Clyde Close and make both estates better places to live.

Everyone deserves to feel safe and comfortable in their neighbourhood.

We're introducing our Better Neighbourhoods programme, bringing together our Neighbourhood, Community Safety and Estate Services teams to identify areas where improvements could be made. We're also exploring how the shed at Fairweather Close could be better used for residents in the future, although funding has not yet been confirmed. We know Anti-Social Behaviour remains a concern, and we want everyone to feel safe in their neighbourhood. If you experience or witness any incidents, please report them to the police so they can be investigated and appropriate action can be taken. We'll continue working with our teams to address local concerns, identify opportunities for improvement and keep you updated on progress. With best wishes, Curtis

If you experience or witness antisocial behaviour, please report it. This could include threatening behaviour, harassment, vandalism or persistent noise disturbances. Reporting incidents helps the police and our neighbourhood teams understand what's happening, identify ongoing issues and take action to keep your communities safe. You can report non-emergency incidents to the police by calling 101 or visiting met.police.uk. If someone is in immediate danger or a crime is happening, call 999. You can also report antisocial behaviour affecting your neighbourhood to Peabody. By sharing your concerns, you're helping us make your neighbourhood a safer and more welcoming place for everyone.

Together We Can: making a difference across Haringey Local organisations are helping people across Haringey build confidence, make new connections and enjoy new experiences through the Together We Can Fund. Peabody contributed £20,000 to the fund, delivered in partnership with Haringey Giving, supporting six local projects for children, young people and older residents. Sewn Together supported 110 people through outings and activities, including visits to Alexandra Palace, Bruce Castle Museum, Kew Gardens and the Royal Albert Hall. The experiences helped participants build friendships, feel less isolated and gain confidence to get out and explore new places.

Church on the Farm also gave 19 children from Broadwater Farm the chance to try new activities and enjoy days out across London. From cooking and arts and crafts to visiting museums and attractions, the children had opportunities to develop new skills, discover new interests and grow in confidence. The project also encouraged them to explore places beyond their local area and make positive memories together. These are just some of the ways the Together We Can Fund has helped local organisations bring people together and create positive opportunities across Haringey. By supporting community-led projects, the fund has helped residents of different ages enjoy new experiences, build connections and feel part of their local community. Help us make better use of the allotment shed We're looking at ways to improve the external allotment shed at Fairweather Close and make better use of the space for residents.

The Better Community Centre supported around 70 older residents through coffee mornings, games, art and other social activities. These regular opportunities to get together helped residents meet new people, build support networks and feel more connected to their community. The activities also provided a welcoming space where people could socialise, share experiences and enjoy spending time together.

Before making any plans, we want to hear from you. We'd like to know what you think about the space, how you would like to see it used and any ideas you have for improving it. Although funding isn't currently available for improvements, we're exploring what might be possible in the future. Your feedback will help us understand what residents would find most useful and how we could make the space work better for the community. More information on how to share your views will be provided soon.

Opening doors for women in construction In September, Peabody and Hill Group welcomed 33 women to a week-long work experience programme at the St Ann’s development in Haringey. The programme was designed to help women explore careers in construction, build their confidence and develop skills to support their next steps into work. Half of those taking part were aged 40 or over, and many had no previous experience of working in construction. Throughout the week, participants visited the St Ann’s site, heard from women working across the industry and learned about the different routes into construction. They also met employers offering job, training and work experience opportunities.

Looking for work or training? Ready to take the next step? Peabody works with partners to connect residents with job, training and work experience opportunities in areas including housing, construction, care and support, and childcare. If you're looking for your next opportunity, you can register your interest with us. Tell us what you're interested in and we'll let you know when relevant opportunities come up. Working towards better neighbourhoods We're introducing our Better Neighbourhoods programme at Fairweather Close and Elizabeth Clyde Close at the end of October. The programme had a positive impact, with 93% of participants saying it strengthened their desire to pursue a career in construction. Participants also reported a better understanding of the opportunities available and increased confidence about starting, returning to or progressing in the industry. One participant said the experience gave her “renewed confidence”, while others highlighted the value of meeting and learning alongside other women. Participants are continuing to receive support following the programme, including access to further work experience, training opportunities and potential placements.

The programme will bring together our neighbourhood, community safety and estate services teams to look at areas where improvements could be made. By working together, we hope to identify opportunities to improve both estates and make them better places to live.
