After years of planning, the Port of Kalama will break ground on its new American Cruise Lines (ACL) small cruise ship dock later this fall; a project that promises to create a substantial economic and tourism boom for the entire Kalama community.
Recent architectural renderings show the location of the structure for the first time, sitting just offshore of the Westin Amphitheater and just north of the planned Public Market facility. When complete, the ACL dock will measure approximately 185’ and will connect to the paved areas of the amphitheater. ACL ships currently dock further south at Ahles Point. The more environmentally-friendly central location will improve the passenger experience, while enabling greater tourist access to our marina and parks, the Port’s new Public Market facility and downtown Kalama’s small and retail businesses.
The ACL small cruise ship dock project is projected to cost the Port $1.5 million, with American Cruise Lines providing an additional $550,000 as a capital investment.
