elcome to the 14th Annual North of the 49th Bull Sale. As I sit down to write this, I can’t help but feel grateful reflecting on the friendships we have built in our years of being a part of the Charolais business. Thank you to our past friends and customers. If you are viewing our catalogue for the first time, thank you for your consideration of our bull pen. This cattle market has never been more in favour of using Charolais bulls to top the calf market. The tan and silver calves bring premiums regularly and are easily identifiable. When you sell product by the pound, the Charolais bull is a huge asset. Our lineup for 2017 offers the vigour, volume, performance, and foot structure to produce a heavier calf crop without sacrificing calving ease. With our cow numbers, we strive for low maintenance, easy fleshing, sound udder structured females. We expect our bulls to be low maintenance, sound footed, with longevity in them. We feed our bulls on a balanced TMR ration and they are fed for athleticism and longevity. The bulls are fed to gain 3 lb. a day, not as much as they can or with a self feeder. Rosso Double Down 8Z is a recent addition to our bull battery. The first set of Double Down sons to sell are easy calving, soft made, deep sided and carry extra muscling. The Velocity sire group is strong once again and you’ll find Evolution progeny throughout the catalogue that are stout and rugged. We strive for customer satisfaction, and we service what we sell. We have built this cow herd on functionality, structure and longevity. We pride ourselves in standing behind our bulls. If your bull is not sealing the deal, we will replace him or supply a bull to get through the remainder of the breeding season, and you will be given a sale credit for the next sale. Our breeding warranty is simple, easy, and a phone call away. We invite you to the ranch to tour the bulls and cow herd at any time. Downhome is the Evolution outcross herd bull we were hoping to raise after we purchased semen rights on the New Zealand bull. The combination of Evolution and the Titania female is the making of a maternal powerhouse. Downhome has a true herd bull look to him – character through his head and front end, an abundance of muscle shape and overall thickness, moderate frame and balance. The soundness and skeletal structure of Downhome is not found around every gate post – he is correct and square on all four corners. The Titania female in our program needs no introduction. Anyone who tours the herd finds Titania and her strong cow family. The softness, milking ability, udder structure and body mass of this female puts her in another level in our herd. The Evolution females are going to leave a mark in our program with their udder type, softness, body mass and sound structure. Diplomat is the first son of Rosso Double Down. Double Down was campaigned by Rosso Charolais very successfully in 2014 and was the BOSS Show Bull of the Year. We purchased half interest in him from the Stuart family at Cabri, SK. Double Down knows how to make exceptional bulls with his easy calving, extra rib, sound structure and he is stamping all his offspring with his huge hip. This is a powerhouse bull in so many ways – extra thickness, width of base, huge muscling and sound structure. A bull you must admire for his overall thickness and attractive front end. Diplomat is out of a highly productive Bezinga female that is moderate in structure, thick bodied and sound uddered. Our Sundance calves have impressed us with their sound structure, rib shape and moderate stature. 25D is no exception. He combines length of body with thickness from front to back, excellent feet and testicle size. The disposition of our Sundance progeny is fantastic. We selected Chara for his easy calving pedigree and moderate phenotype. He is sound footed and he has added depth and thickness to his calves. Maternally, he stems from a highly productive Silver Bullet female.
Terms & Conditions Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made.
Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.
Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final.
Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements.
Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured.
Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the appropriate breed association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made.
Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk.
Breeder Guarantee: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.
Exception Guarantee: In the case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.
Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.
Sale Manager: By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Any legal action taken in exceptional cases must be between the buyer and the seller. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfilment of all guarantees and representations.
Insurance: Insurance will be available sale day.
Pictures: By attending the sale you are granting permission for your picture to be used for promotional and advertising purposes relating to the sale.
