Welcome to our first online bull sale and thank you for taking the time to view the catalogue.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our neighbours, friends and customers, who have purchased bulls by private treaty over the years. I am grateful to each and every one of you for the support and confidence you have given me and our breeding program. I look forward to the opportunity to continue to earn your trust and that of new customers by constantly improving our genetics and providing quality service.

The White Meadow Charolais herd began in 1981 with the purchase of three heifer calves. Over the past four decades, A.I. has played an integral part in the development of our herd. I truly believe it takes great cows to produce quality sons, and as such, I have always focused on using highly proven sires that are backed by strong cow families in building our cowherd. For the past three decades the cows have calved on grass.The lessons learned through this range calving environment have taught me the importance of selecting for calving ease (not just low birth weight), short gestation length, calf vigor at birth and females with sound teat and udder quality. Quiet dispositions are a trait I have always placed special emphasis on, and with my six-year old daughter, Ava, who loves to help her dad with the cattle, it is more important than ever!

This year’s bull offering is representative of the balanced approach to breeding I have tried to achieve, moderate framed bulls that blend calving ease with the performance, that will give our customers pay weight in their calves on sale day.You will find the blood of LT Sundance 2251 in nearly every bull. He has without a doubt been the most influential sire used in our herd. He is in the top 1% of the breed for weaning and yearling weight EPD. His sons are high performance, docile, stock bulls and his daughters are feminine, big volumed, long bodied productive cows. Many of the sale bulls are out of Sundance daughters.

The bulls have been backgrounded on a high roughage ration as yearlings and summered on grass. I begin to supplement the bulls with pellets on grass in late August.They are brought home in October to further develop them in order to show their genetic potential without over conditioning, so that they are able perform as “athletes” come breeding season.Their winter ration consists of corn silage mixed with a bull developer pellet along with free choice grass hay and protein supplement.They are wintered with access to a 12-acre paddock for lots of exercise.

Welcome to the White Meadow Charolais bull sale.

The bulls are selling through the DLMS Farmgate Timed Online Auction. Online bidding will open on April 13th and close at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, April 14th, with a racehorse style close, with extended bidding time. If you have questions, or concerns with this system of selling, give us a call and we can help you.The farm is located between Souris and Pipestone, just west of what used to be the town of Deleau.They are just a mile north of Hwy #2 with a sign at the corner.

Michael Bertholet grew up in the Charolais business and is a real historian on the breed and pedigrees. He has used an extensive AI program for years and there are many ½ and ¾ brothers on offer with the proven LT Sundance bull in many of the pedigrees.The coming two-year old and long yearling bulls are quiet, sound and consistent.They have great bred in calving ease, but still enough genetic punch to give you the market topping calves. Viewing of the Bulls Bulls are available for viewing at the farm anytime prior to sale close.

Herd Health and Fertility Sale bulls have been treated twice for parasites with Ivomec and Clean-up, vaccinated with Bovashield FP 5 and will receive two doses of Fusogard for foot rot prevention.

Breeding females receive Bovashield FP 5. Calves are given Inforce 3 at birth and Covexin 8.

Semen Test and Weights All bulls will be examined, scrotal measured, semen tested and palpated by a licensed veterinarian prior to the sale. Scrotal measurements and current weights will be available.

Insurance All bulls remaining on the farm after the sale will require insurance.

At closing time of the sale, the entire sale will extend bidding for 5 minutes, if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale.Any bid received after close time will extend the sale by 5 minutes from the time of that bid.When no bidding occurs for 5 minutes, the computer will declare the sale finished.

5. Within 24 hours of the sale close, the Sale Manager will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/pick up of your lot.

What is a Racehorse Style Close?

Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding.This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding.

How Extended Bidding works When we get to the close out end time, the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 minutes on the clock.This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and gives all bidders the same time to make a decision.Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.

Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association.A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made.

Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale.The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk.

Breeder Guarantee - Bulls: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months

following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age.The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

Exception Guarantee: In case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.

Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, or seller assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.
