A tradition of excellence and value… SALE DAY PHONES
Welcome!
In 1981 Dale and Lesley Norheim started a sale with the vision of creating a high quality female sale from conscientious breeders that are active in the industry. With the 37th Annual sale this year, the “Tradition of Excellence and Value” still holds true. The eight consignors in this year’s Sterling Collection sale have again dug deep into their programs to put forward a tremendous offering. From a unique semen offering, to proven producing females, to future brood matrons and some fancy show prospect heifer calves, there is something for everyone. The consignors are active in provincial and national boards and getting out and promoting their programs and the Charolais breed at the fall shows and sales. These are long term breeders with quality herds built over time. The Charolais bull sales this spring were the best ever, and the demand will be strong again next spring when the commercial industry realizes this fall that pounds pay. The heavy crossbred calves in the market place are paying the bills this fall and light straight bred calves are not seeing the same demand. This sale offers the opportunity to purchase top quality cattle to add to your existing program or an excellent start if you want to get into the Charolais business. The demand for Charolais bulls will continue to increase, so be ready for it. If we can be of any assistance or get your more information before the sale to help facilitate your purchasing, please don’t hesitate to contact us, any of the sale staff or consignors. When we saw the pictures and all the information on this outstanding outcross, we knew we wanted to use him. This is the first time in 20 years that Palgrove has presented an opportunity for Charolais breeders worldwide to gain access to their internationally renowned genetics according to David Bondfield. He describes Justice’s dam as a moderate framed, perfect uddered female who has produced 5 progeny by 6 years of age with a 365 day calving interval. In Palgrove’s recent sale eight sons of Silverstream Evolution averaged $17,500 to a top of $50,000 (second high selling bull in
The Sterling
Australia for 2016) at their spring bull sale this year, where they sold 114 Charolais bulls for a $10,662 average. In their 2015 sale 13 sons averaged over $13,000. David also describes Justice as a true sire – from head to hoof with strength of head; perfect structure, sound feet and legs; balance and depth. With an actual birth weight of 44 kg (97 lb) he should combine calving ease with outstanding performance.

Czarina is a low birthweight female that has outproduced herself already. 4107B is bred to our third generation polled Lanza son that has impressed us with his first calf crop. Dani is a solid type heifer calf by ABC Bernardo. This young March heifer calf could definitely be an investment in your future. Your outcross genetics package starts here! Dani has lots of muscle expression in a feminine package. The first Bernardo calves are very interesting – all are a little younger because the bull arrived late in the breeding season, but we have seen enough to know they’ll be good.

Exposed May 3 - July 30 to ABC Bernardo Toro B180. Kate is a very good-haired Roundup daughter with great feet and leg set. She milks really well and it shows in her production. Her first 2 calves were by Vistazo and the heifer was outstanding, selling in the Sterling Sale last year as a bred heifer. Her bull calf from last year was equally good and will be in our bull sale in the spring. The bottom side comes from a strong Ray Murphy cow family. She is uniquely bred to ABC Bernardo, a total outcross pedigreed bull from Cobb Charolais in Montana.

Amelia is an awesome Charolais female – perfect uddered, strong polled, and very well balanced with lots of volume. Last year Amelia had an outstanding Legend heifer that will stay in the herd. This year her Winslow heifer calf would make anyone proud. Amelia has a very good chance of being homozygous polled – her sire Saginaw is homozygous polled and her mother’s cow family is homozygous polled for 3 generations. 3129A has excellent feet, is very correct structurally, and will be a herdbull producer. Bred April 12 Circle Cee Legend 307A Carrie is the most powerful heifer that we have sold in years. She has massive volume and a huge hip. This Landmark daughter is very typical of all the Landmarks. She will milk well and wean heavy calves. Our Landmark daughters are weaning our heaviest calves and are crossing well with a cross-section of different sires. 530C is out of a superior cow family that is solid as can be and has been in the herd for years. Carrie is a smooth polled heifer that is halter broke and ready to show. Being bred to Legend is a sure thing, as this is the type of female that he really clicks with.
